Barrett: Milwaukee's in-person absentee voting is "expanding access" to voters

MILWAUKEE -- Mayor Tom Barrett reported on Wednesday, October 12th on the number of residents who have taken advantage of in-person absentee voting opportunities in Milwaukee.Since September 26th, more than 6,100 in-person absentee ballots have been submitted at the three early voting locations throughout the City.There are 725 hours of in-person absentee voting available in the city, including extended weekend and evening hours, that begin six weeks before the presidential election in November.

Milwaukee leaders announce details of Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) grant

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and members of the City of Milwaukee's Health Department were joined by Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton and other community leaders on Thursday, September 22nd to announce the details of the Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) grant.The City of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention was one of eight cities nationwide to be awarded this grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.The City of Milwaukee Health Department applied for this grant in June of 2016.
