'HONK if you miss Happy Hour:' Oshkosh bar owner does what he can to bring smiles to passersby

OSHKOSH -- The owner of an Oshkosh bar is doing what he can to bring a few smiles to those passing by his establishment -- Barley and Hops Pub and Beer Garden.Nate Stiefvater and Jessie Schmidt shared video of the measures they are going to -- to generate those smiles.The side of the business reads, "Upcoming events, The apocalypse, Following by Happy Hour."On top of that, Stiefvater was outside holding up a sign that read, "HONK if you miss Happy Hour." 'Symbol of unity:' Milwaukee buildings shine in red, white, and blue amid COVID-19 pandemic

MILWAUKEE -- Amid the health and financial challenges that face communities near and far as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, officials with Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 encouraged officials with buildings and landmarks throughout the city to illuminate their facades with red, white, and blue lighting.According to a news release, beginning Tuesday evening, March 24, U.S. Bank Center, Northwestern Mutual, The Gas Light Building, 833 East Michigan, The Pfister Hotel, and the M-K-E letters at General Mitchell International Airport will be lit in red, white, and blue in tribute to the resiliency of the nation.

Green Bay Packers establish COVID-19 Community Relief Funds totaling $1.5M

GREEN BAY -- Green Bay Packers officials announced Monday, March 23 they will establish COVID-19 Community Relief Funds totaling $1.5 million through Packers Give Back "to assist efforts in Brown County and the Milwaukee area."According to a news release, the $1 million Brown County-directed fund, the Packers Give Back COVID-19 Community Relief Fund, is being established through the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation.Packers Give Back also is directing $500,000 to support initiatives in the Milwaukee area, the release said.The financial support will be directed to specific COVID-19 relief efforts in the respective communities, both immediately and in the future as needs arise due to the anticipated effects of the pandemic.“We are facing an unprecedented challenge in our communities,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in the release. “We know our nonprofit support agencies will be performing their usual excellent work, but they’ll need additional resources as various needs and gaps in coverage develop in the coming weeks and months.

'An unprecedented time:' Company modifies Hartland facility to bring more hand sanitizer to market

HARTLAND -- Officials with Medline health care company on Monday, March 23 announced plans to re-deploy the company's manufacturing capabilities in Hartland to bring more hand sanitizer to the market amid the corornavirus pandemic -- with a goal of producing 150,000 bottles a week by mid-April.“This is an unprecedented time in health care, with many unknowns," said Stu Schneider, group president of Medline, in a news release. "We knew we had to do something to help our customers and are working diligently to modify our space to bring this much-needed product to market."According to the release, the company plans to modify equipment and ventilation systems at the 300,000-square-foot facility with "a strong focus on infection prevention products."
