'We're behind them:' 2 men spread thanks to health care workers outside Children's, Froedtert

WAUWATOSA -- A pair of longtime friends are dedicating time to thanking the health care workers outside Children's Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital.Around 6:30 in the morning, Frank Janiszewski and Allen Beranek set up shop at the intersection of Watertown Plank Road and 92nd Street in Wauwatosa just as one shift of doctors, nurses and other health care workers left and the next showed up.

Green Bay Packers help provide meals to frontline workers

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers are teaming with American Family Insurance to provide $20,000 worth of ready-made meals to northeast Wisconsin’s frontline workers in the fight against the new coronavirus.Packers officials said the meals will be delivered to hospitals May 6-12 for Nurse Appreciation Week and will go to police and fire stations May 10-16 as part of Police Appreciation Week.The Packers also have provided $1.5 million in grants through the Packers Give Back COVID-19 Community Relief Fund.Nate Pokrass, America Family’s community investment and partnerships director issued this statement:

MILWAUKEE -- The Northwestern Mutual Foundation has donated $200,000 to help supply personal protective equipment to Children's Wisconsin during the coronavirus pandemic, the organization announced Friday, May 1.“Currently, there is no greater need than helping to ensure the health and safety of our community members,” said Eric Christophersen, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “Providing hospitals with access to these essential supplies is just one way we can support our healthcare professionals as they work to protect patients and families, including those in the fight against childhood cancer.”This contribution will support the following:

Thin blue line: Company delivers meals to Mequon police in truck honoring fallen officers

MEQUON -- Delivering much more than just a meal to the Mequon Police Department, a local trucking company brought food to the station Thursday along with sustenance for the soul.Kriete Truck Centers bought lunch for the department April 30, delivering it in a quad-axle dump truck with a special "thin blue line" paint job, listing the names of all Wisconsin law enforcement members who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
