Wis. Historical Society launches COVID-19 journaling project

MADISON -- The Wisconsin Historical Society wants you to help write history.Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director and CEO of the Wisconsin Historical Society, says the goal is to get Wisconsinites from all walks of life, especially those at the front lines, to take part.“Doctors, lawyers, healthcare workers, teachers, grocers have signed up to do this and families too,” said Overland to our partners at WMTV in Madison. “People can be a part of history and we’re giving that opportunity to all of the residents of Wisconsin to join us to create the future of history.”Participants are asked to document their daily life for the next 30, 60, or 90 days.

RACINE -- With handshakes and hugs off the table, a Racine sewing shop is using a needle and thread to support essential businesses.In the age of social distancing, Karin Janssen-Potter still wanted to thank the essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic."They're going out every single day, risking their lives to keep us healthy and to keep us safe," Janssen-Potter, manager of Sew 'n Save of Racine.

Twisted Path Distillery makes hand sanitizer, 'as fast as I can get ingredients'

MILWAUKEE -- A Bay View distillery that touts "innovative craft cocktails" has had a shift in business goals -- from handcrafted spirits to hand sanitizer."I'm making hand sanitizer basically as fast as I can get ingredients for it," said Brian Sammons, the founder of Twisted Path Distillery. "So far, I've made a few hundred gallons."The cocktail lounge located near 1st Street and Beecher Street where "everything is made from scratch," has now added hand sanitizer to the list amid the coronavirus pandemic."We just made 300 gallons," Sammons said.
