MILWAUKEE -- Freezing rain and a wintry mix Friday night, Jan. 10, changing to snow on Saturday, Jan. 11, resulted in power outages across the We Energies' system.A We Energies' spokesman said Saturday afternoon they were seeing some scattered outages, and those outages were being addressed "as safely and quickly as possible."The spokesman said the outages appeared to be caused by high winds and branch/tree damage.A viewer named Zion Ross shared video with FOX6 News showing an apparent transformer fire near 38th Street and Roberts Street.

2nd man charged in attack on MCTS bus driver with broom handle sentenced in 2 open cases

MILWAUKEE -- The second of two men charged in connection with the November 2018 assault of a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus driver was sentenced Tuesday, Nov. 26 in connection with two open cases against him.Jaquon Lampkin, 18, of Milwaukee, pleaded guilty in October to one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the attack on the driver.

MCTS to honor Rosa Parks with open seat on every bus

'No recollection of the incident:' 15 months in prison for woman convicted in stabbing of MCTS driver

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee woman convicted in connection with an attack on a Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver on May 15 near 76th Street and Appleton Avenue was sentenced Tuesday, Nov. 19 to 15 months in prison.Betty Roberts, 24, entered an Alford plea Tuesday -- a guilty plea of a defendant who proclaims (s)he is innocent of the crime but admits that the prosecution has enough evidence to prove that (s)he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.In addition to the 15 months in prison, Roberts was sentenced to serve another 21 months' extended supervision, and the court recommended that be served in a mental health unit.The assault happened after officials said Roberts refused to pay the bus fare around 3:30 p.m. on May 15.

MCTS, ATU Local 998 reach agreement on new 3-year contract

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 998, the union that represents MCTS bus drivers and mechanics, reached an agreement on a new contract on Friday, Nov. 15.The agreement, which was ratified by union members is for a three-year contract that includes salary increases, signing bonuses and a generous healthcare plan.Dan Boehm, MCTS President and Managing Director issued the following statement in a news release:

Prosecutors: Man punched MCTS passenger on bus in 1st of 2 incidents in 7 days

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- A Milwaukee man, 29, stands accused of punching a passenger onboard a Milwaukee County Transit System, and a criminal complaint noted it was the first of two incidents in seven days.It happened on Oct. 21 near 6th Street and Lincoln Avenue.A charge of battery to a public transit operator was filed against Tyrin Douglas on Monday, Nov. 4.Prosecutors said the victim, a man, 20, said he got on the Route 80 bus near 6th Street and Wisconsin Avenue and Douglas was already on the bus.
