The Wisconsin State Fair isn't going on as normal due to COVID-19, but the food is, at least some of it! You can get a taste of the fair without leaving your car starting Thursday, July 23 during the "Fair Food Drive-Thru" that lasts four weekends.

WEST ALLIS -- Shots were fired near 62nd Street and Orchard Street -- the Liberty Heights Park area in West Allis Wednesday afternoon, July 22.It happened around 3:45 p.m.Police said they were not immediately aware of any injuries related to the incident.An investigation is ongoing.Meanwhile, West Milwaukee police said they had two vehicles involved in a shots fired incident -- with someone in one vehicle shooting at another on National Avenue near the VA Medical Center.

Milwaukee man killed in crash involving motorcycle, vehicle near Highway 100 and Becher

WEST ALLIS  -- A Milwaukee man, 35, died following a crash near Highway 100 and Becher Street late Monday morning, July 13 involving his motorcycle and a vehicle.Police said it happened around 11:30 a.m.Citizens and first responders attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcycle operator died at the scene.A preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was headed north on S. 108th Street when there was a crash involving another vehicle.No other injuries were reported.Police noted the driver of the other vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperating with the investigation.Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, police said.

West Allis police issue warning following 'numerous complaints of cruising on HWY 100'

WEST ALLIS -- A police chase that started Saturday night, May 23 in Greenfield ended with one man in custody.It began when officers tried to stop a driver for registration issues.The pursuit eventually ended at Highway 100 and Watertown Plank Road in Wauwatosa -- with squads from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, Greenfield Police Department and West Allis Police Department involved.

Police: 1 killed, 1 critically injured in motorcycle crash in West Allis

WEST ALLIS -- One person was killed and another critically injured in a motorcycle crash in West Allis Sunday, May 3.It happened on National Avenue near 112th Street.Police said the operator of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old man, apparently lost control.The operator and passenger, a 27-year-old woman, were both thrown from the motorcycle.

West Allis PD: 3 taken into custody following police pursuit involving stolen vehicle

WEST ALLIS -- One adult and two juveniles were taken into custody early Monday morning, March 30 following a police pursuit that began in West Allis and ended in Milwaukee.It began around 1:20 a.m. after officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of 76th and Oklahoma.The driver fled from officers -- and a pursuit was initiated.

$843K-plus payment from West Allis-West Milwaukee School District 'intercepted by criminals'

WEST ALLIS -- Officials with the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District filed a police report with the West Allis Police Department and FBI regarding an online payment in the amount of $843,254.94 made to CG Schmidt initiated on Oct. 25, 2019 that was not received by the company."We began an investigation, and early on in our investigation, we wrote a number of subpoenas and search warrants in an effort to follow the money," said Chris Botsch with the West Allis Police Department. "The results of those subpoenas and search warrants led us to various accounts throughout the country, and we believe the money was ultimately transferred overseas."This transfer was one of the scheduled amounts due to CG Schmidt in its capacity as the general contractor for the new West Allis-West Milwaukee School District Recreation and Community Services Center that is being constructed at 2450 S. 68th Street.According to investigators, their initial investigation revealed the district's payment had been intercepted by criminal actors and subsequently transferred to various other accounts throughout the U.S. before finally being moved overseas.
