Mequon man cited for failing to stop at stop sign after crash that killed Cedarburg man

CEDARBURG -- A Mequon man was cited after a Cedarburg man, 56, who died after a crash in the Town of Cedarburg on Wednesday, July 3.Adam Gertz, 19, received a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign, causing death.A court appearance was scheduled for Aug. 8.The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Granville Road and Washington Avenue.

Sheriff: Woman treated and released after jumping from moving vehicle in Grafton

GRAFTON -- A woman, 23, was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life Sunday, June 2 after Ozaukee County sheriff's officials said she jumped out of a moving vehicle in an apparent suicide attempt.Sheriff's officials said a woman, 29, who was driving, was unable to hold onto the other woman.Several drivers stopped at the scene to render aid to the victim, who was taken to the hospital.I-43 northbound and southbound were closed at WIS 60 as of about 7:45 p.m. Sunday as a result of this incident.Both women involved were from Sheboygan.The victim was treated and released from Froedtert Hospital, sheriff's officials said in an update Monday, June 3.

Man arrested for OWI, 5 rescued after vehicle went into water in Saukville

SAUKVILLE, Wis. -- A 36-year-old man was arrested for OWI after a water rescue incident in Saukville Saturday night, March 16.Police said around 9:42 p.m., officers responded to the area near County Highway W, just north of State Highway 33 for the report of a vehicle in the water.An investigation revealed a driver disregarded multiple "road closed" signs and was almost completely submerged.With help from the Saukville Fire Department, Grafton Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office and Washington County Sheriff's Department, all five of the vehicle's occupants were rescued.Four of the occupants were transported to a hospital and treated for hypothermia.The driver, a 36-year-old man from Dalton, Wis., was arrested for OWI, causing injury, violation of probation and an active arrant.Fire officials told FOX6 News the fifth person was located on an island miles away -- with a very low body temperature.

Saukville squad crash injures 2 officers, another driver

Convicted sex offender to live in home on Highland Drive in Port Washington upon release Jan. 1

PORT WASHINGTON -- Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, Dec. 30 alerted the public to the release of a convicted sex offender -- who will be living at a home on Highland Drive near Wisconsin Street in Port Washington upon his release on Jan. 1.According to sheriff's officials, John Favel, 34, was convicted in 2003 for repeated acts of sexual assault of a child and second degree sexual assault of a child.

Man arrested with guns, drugs in Homestead parking lot pleads guilty

MEQUON -- One of two Sturgeon Bay men arrested in February for possession of narcotics and firearms, including three assault rifles on the campus of Homestead High School has reached a plea deal in the case against him.Benjamin Krohn, 20, on Thursday, Sept. 13 pleaded guilty to three charges, one felony and two misdemeanors: carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm on school grounds and possession of THC.
