One dead following rollover crash on I-43 near Falls Road in Ozaukee County

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Tuesday night, June 7th.The single-vehicle rollover crash occurred just before midnight on northbound I-43 north of Falls Road.Witnesses reported the vehicle began to swerve, and then entered the median -- where it rolled over into the southbound lanes of I-43.The driver and single occupant, identified as 23-year-old Janae Lopez, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.Authorities say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors at this time.I-43 southbound from State Highway 60 was shut down from 11:55 p.m. until 2:23 a.m. until the initial investigation was completed.This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

Two taken to the hospital, one by Flight for Life after crash in Ozaukee County

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- Two people had to be taken to the hospital, one via Flight for Life after a crash involving two vehicles near County Highway H and County Highway KK in the Town of Port Washington.It happened just after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6th.Sheriff's officials say a 40-year-old Town of Belgium woman was headed northbound on County Highway KK when she failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign to a vehicle being driven by a 57-year-old Port Washington man.The Town of Belgium woman was taken to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Victim killed when tire blew on I-43 NB near Mequon Road has been identified

MEQUON -- Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office have identified a woman killed in a crash on I-43 northbound, north of Mequon Road on Monday, May 23rd.The victim has been identified as Neisy Tejeda Jimenez De Galva of Milwaukee.The crash happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. and involved a single vehicle.An initial investigation has revealed a Milwaukee man was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer on I-43 northbound, north of Mequon Road in Mequon when, witnesses reported, the vehicle's tire blew -- causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle.

Motorcyclist taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after crash involving box truck in Cedarburg

CEDARBURG -- Two people had to be taken to the hospital, one of them via Flight for Life after a crash involving a box truck and a motorcycle that happened in Cedarburg on Thursday afternoon, May 19th.It happened around 2:15 on Washington Avenue.Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office say the box truck, being driven by a 67-year-old Grafton man, was headed northbound on Washington Avenue, and a motorcycle, operated by a 26-year-old Menomonee Falls man was headed southbound.The box truck was attempting to turn westbound onto Sycamore Drive, and failed to yield to the motorcycle, which struck the box truck.

Two people taken to the hospital after crash involving three vehicles in Cedarburg

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- Two people had to be taken to the hospital after a crash involving three vehicles that happened in Cedarburg on Monday morning, May 2nd.It happened on Pioneer Road at Wauwatosa Road/State Highway 181.An initial investigation has revealed a 16-year-old boy from Cedarburg headed east on Pioneer Road failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle while he was attempting to make a left turn onto Wauwatosa Road.The 16-year-old boy's vehicle struck a vehicle being driven by a 36-year-old Cedarburg man.A third vehicle was struck after the collision.A utility pole and traffic light post were damaged as a result of the crash.Two of the drivers involved in the crash had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.PHOTO GALLERYThe 16-year-old boy received a citation for failure to yield the right of way.Northbound Wauwatosa Road from Pioneer Road, and westbound Pioneer Road were shut down as crews worked to repair the traffic lights.

Ozaukee County: Man taken to hospital following crash off Blue Goose Road in Saukville

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- A man was taken to the hospital after he went off the road in an SUV ended up in a patch of trees near Highway 33 and Blue Goose Road in Saukville.The crash occurred Saturday morning, April 9th at approximately 8:20 a.m.According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, the man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

Jackknifed semi leads to three subsequent crashes involving eight vehicles on I-43 NB

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- All lanes of I-43 northbound were closed for a short time on Wednesday afternoon, December 23rd after a semi jackknifed -- leading to three subsequent crashes.It happened shortly before 1:00 p.m.Ozaukee County Sheriff's officials say the semi-tractor trailer was hauling an intermodal trailer, and it attempted to slow down in an effort to avoid a collision with a vehicle that was merging into traffic on I-43 SB, approximately one mile south of State Highway 33 in the Town of Saukville.The semi jackknifed and slid into the median.There was no contact between the semi and the vehicle that was merging onto the freeway -- but a saddle tank on the semi was ruptured as it traveled into the median.Approximately 50 to 70 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the tank into the median.The Ozaukee County Emergency Management Hazmat Team responded to manage and clean the diesel spill.During the course of this traffic investigation, three additional traffic accidents involving a total of eight vehicles occurred on I-43 northbound between Highway 33 in the Town of Saukville and Highway 32 in the Town of Grafton.One person was taken to the hospital -- and that person is expected to be OK.Northbound lanes of I-43 were closed for about 30 minutes.

Cold case: December 15th marks 31 year anniversary of murder of Traci Hammerberg

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- Tuesday, December 15th marks the 31 year anniversary of the sexual assault and murder of 18-year-old Traci Hammerberg.Hammerberg's partially nude body was found in a rural driveway in the Town of Grafton on December 15th, 1984.After years of investigating and hundreds of people tested and interviewed, the person(s) responsible for her death have never been located.Ozaukee County Sheriff's officials say a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the individual(s) responsible for Hammerberg's death is being offered.Sheriff's officials said this on Facebook on the 31 year anniversary of Hammerberg's death:
