"Suspicious death:" Body found in field in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A body was found in a field in Mount Pleasant Monday, July 24th, police said.The body was found shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sorenson Road near W Road -- off of Washington Avenue.Mount Pleasant Police Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity of the female victim, as well as the manner, cause and circumstances surrounding the death.Police are calling this a "suspicious death."

Mount Pleasant police: 13-year-old boy taken into custody after leading police on 2 pursuits

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody early Thursday morning, June 22nd after leading police on two separate pursuits in Racine County.The first pursuit began around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 21st at STH 20 and Meadowlane Avenue after the vehicle was spotted without headlights on.The pursuit led officers into the City of Racine -- where the driver disregarded stop signs and traffic signals.

Man arrested for OWI, cocaine possession following hit-and-run crash in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 31-year-old Green Bay man was taken into custody Thursday, June 8th for OWI and drug possession following a hit-and-run crash in Mount Pleasant.The crash happened on Washington Avenue near 90th Street shortly before 3:30 p.m.According to police, the crash occurred when the suspect vehicle was westbound on STH 20 at 92nd St.

Racine man arrested for OWI after crash in Mount Pleasant; woman seriously hurt

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 54-year-old Racine man was arrested for OWI after a crash involving two vehicles that happened Sunday evening, May 28th near the intersection of State Highway 32 and Larson Street.It happened around 6:30 p.m.Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the striking vehicle was headed northbound on State Highway 32 "at an extremely high rate of speed." The second vehicle was attempting a left turn onto Larson Street and was struck on the passenger side.Both vehicles sustained severe damage -- with the striking vehicle also hitting a telephone pole, and then catching on fire.The driver and passenger of the striking vehicle sustained minor injuries.The operator of the second vehicle, a 20-year-old woman from the Racine area, suffered severe injuries, but they're not believed to be life-threatening.The 54-year-old Racine man who was driving the striking vehicle was arrested after he was medically cleared on charges of first degree recklessly endangering safety and OWI causing injury/great bodily harm.

Police: 30-year-old man stabbed while trying to break up fight at tavern

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 30-year-old Racine man is recovering from wounds suffered after being stabbed early on Monday, May 29th.Mount Pleasant police say they were dispatched to a tavern at Durand and Ashland around 12: 45 a.m. Monday in reference a person that had been stabbed.

7-year-old boy hurt after being struck by vehicle in parking lot in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A seven-year-old boy suffered a severe non-life threatening injury after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Dick's Sporting Goods store located on Green Bay Road in Mount Pleasant.According to police, witnesses stated the child ran into the lot ahead of his father who was trying to get him to stop.

Dispute leads to fight, beer bottle smashed over one man's head

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Two men were arrested early Sunday, February 26th after an altercation at a tavern in the Village of Mount Pleasant.Officers were patrolling the neighborhood near Racine and Mead Streets around 1:30 a.m. due to the closing of several area taverns where there has been a high concentration of calls for service.

Mount Pleasant police: 23-year-old man found lying in street with gunshot wounds

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, February 11th.It happened around 2 a.m. near 23rd and Mead.According to police, while officers were monitoring pedestrians and traffic in the area due to a high volume of people leaving area taverns, one of the officers reported hearing two “pops."Moments later a man was found lying on Mead Street just south of 23rd Street.The victim, a 23-year-old Racine man, suffered gunshot wounds to both legs but was conscious and alert.He was taken by rescue squad to Wheaton-Ascension Hospital, where he remains in stable condition for non-life threatening injuries.Police say the incident remains under investigation.
