Sheriff: Girl 'admitted to fabricating' story of May 8 child enticement in Richfield

RICHFIELD -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, May 27 offered an update on a child enticement incident reported May 8 in Richfield -- indicating the victim "admitted to fabricating the story to authorities."Sheriff's officials said it was originally reported the girl was approached by a man near Whispering Ridge Drive and Scenic Drive who attempted to abduct her and then fled the area in a brown van.A weekslong investigation revealed "several inconsistencies in the juvenile’s story," officials said.She was confronted Wednesday at the sheriff's office and admitted "that at no time did a man approach her and attempt to abduct her."Officials said she indicated a man was walking down the road in her direction from a distance and that she believes she heard him say, “Come here.”  She said that she became fearful and ran from the area.There is no credible threat in this case, sheriff's officials said, noting they are no longer looking for anyone or any vehicle in relation to this report."We take all reports seriously and dedicate all necessary resources to the pursuit of justice," sheriff's officials said in the release. "We received an almost overwhelming response from the community in this case and all leads were looked into.

Sheriff: 19-year-old Hartford man flown to hospital after striking concrete base for sign on I-41 

RICHFIELD -- A 19-year-old man was flown to Froedtert Hospital following a crash on I-41 northbound near Holy Hill Road in Richfield Sunday night, May 24.It happened just after 8 p.m.Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said dispatch was advised the 19-year-old Hartford man was unconscious in the vehicle, with a juvenile male passenger.Again, the Hartford man was flown to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life with head, arm and hip injuries.

Female driver who 'was completely naked' among 3 weekend OWI arrests in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Washington County sheriff's officials on Monday, April 27 announced three weekend OWI arrest -- including one female driver who "was completely naked."Sheriff's officials said around 2 a.m. Saturday, April 25, a deputy on patrol noticed a vehicle traveling 30 miles per hour under the speed limit, headed southbound on I-41 in the Town of Addison.

Police called to West Bend church due to complaint regarding 'Safer at Home' order

WEST BEND -- Police were called to a church in West Bend amid the coronavirus pandemic, following a complaint from a neighbor.Pastor Joseph Fisher with Pilgrim Lutheran Church said West Bend police showed up after the neighbor complained about the gathering of the group, saying it was going against Governor Tony Evers' "Safer at Home" order.Pastor Fisher said there were about 16 people inside, but there were no more than 10 in one room at a time.He said police apologized after determining there wasn't a violation of the Safer at Home order at the church.

Driving 110+ mph, Milwaukee man arrested for OWI in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested a 39-year-old Milwaukee man for operating while intoxicated Friday evening, March 20.In a post on the office's Facebook page, authorities stated that the man was driving on I-41 near County Highway K when he was pulled over for driving 118 miles per hour.Authorities said the man told a deputy that he wanted to see how fast his car could go because he heard law enforcement was suspended due to COVID-19.

Germantown police seek man who robbed BP cashier at gunpoint

GERMANTOWN -- Germantown police on Tuesday, March 17 asked for help identifying a man who robbed a gas station cashier at gunpoint on Friday, March 13.The crime happened just before 9:30 p.m.Police said a 911 call came in from the cashier, who reported a handgun was displayed during the robbery.When police responded, the cashier described the man as tall, wearing a hooded jacket and mask covering his face up to his eyes.Anyone with information was asked to please contact Germantown police.

Germantown officials: Worker dies after being trapped by fallen concrete panel

GERMANTOWN -- A worker died from injuries on Friday, March 13 after being trapped by a fallen concrete panel at International Concrete Products in Germantown.Germantown police revealed in a Facebook post that Germantown Fire Department/Rescue and Germantown Police Department were dispatched to the scene after receiving a 911 emergency call.Upon the arrival of first responders, workers were moving the piece of concrete.Personnel from the Germantown Rescue Department determined the worker was deceased.

Washington Co. sheriff: Carjacker posed as driver in distress, ordered man out of truck at gunpoint

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, Feb. 29 issued a warning after a good Samaritan was carjacked -- ordered out of his vehicle at gunpoint by a thief who posed as a driver in distress.It happened between 5:07 p.m. and 5:12 p.m. on I-41 southbound at the State Highway 167/Holy Hill off-ramp.Sheriff's officials said the carjacker stood behind an older (possibly 1970s), silver, four-door Buick LeSabre in rough condition -- blocking any view of the license plate.

Officials: West Bend father jailed after leaving 24-year-old son suffering opioid overdose

TOWN OF ADDISON -- A 48-year-old West Bend man is jailed in part after allegedly leaving his 24-year-old son who had overdosed on opioids early Tuesday, Feb. 18.The Washington County Sheriff's Office noted in a Facebook post that around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a snowplow operator contacted the sheriff's office to report a vehicle with fresh damage pulled over on I-41 north of Highway 33 in the Town of Addison.Deputies arrived to find a 24-year-old West Bend man in the passenger seat.

Sheriff: Fentanyl found hidden in Jackson man's pants at Washington County Jail

WEST BEND -- A Jackson man was found with fentanyl at the Washington County Jail after he was arrested following a crash in the Town of Jackson that happened around 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, the sheriff announced Monday.The Washington County Sheriff's Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Maple Road south of Sherman Road and located two men at the scene.
