Vehicle struck by train, catches fire after driver "disregarded a closed road" sign

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident involving a vehicle and a train that happened on Bark Lake Road near Scenic Road Wednesday, October 25th.According to authorities, a citizen called police around 5:30 p.m. to report that a vehicle was on fire and it had been pushed north from the railroad crossing -- and was currently located behind a residential subdivision.

"Forcibly removed money:" Suspect wearing ski mask robs West Bend gas station

WEST BEND -- West Bend police are investigating a strong armed robbery that happened Monday night, October 23rd at a Mad Max convenience store -- located on Main Street near Paradise Drive.According to police, a male suspect wearing a ski mask entered the store around 9:50 p.m.  and forcibly removed money.The suspect fled the store on foot.There were no customers in the store and the employee was not injured during the incident.The suspect is described as a male, 5’ 11”, 150 to 160 pounds, thin build, wearing a ski mask and dark clothing.Anyone with any information should call the West Bend Police Department at (262) 335-5000.

West Bend police recover 2017 Dodge Charger stolen from dealership showroom

WEST BEND -- West Bend police have recovered a Dodge Charger that was stolen from the Russ Darrow Dodge dealership on WEst Washington Street in West Bend.It happened early on Thursday, October 19th, between 3:20 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.Police said forced entry was made to the dealership, and the yellow 2017 four-door Charger with no license plates was taken from the showroom floor.Officials say the vehicle was recovered undamaged on Friday, October 20th on Milwaukee's northwest side.The department is continuing to work on identifying the suspects responsible for the burglary and theft.

4 arrested following 3 early-morning traffic stops that ended up being related

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Four people were arrested following three early morning traffic stops that involved the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the West Bend Police Department and the Dodge County Sheriff's Office -- and ended up being related.It all began shortly before 2:00 a.m. when a vehicle was stopped after it was observed traveling in excess of 100 miles-per-hour on I-41 southbound near County Trunk K.Investigators say the driver, a 19-year-old Milwaukee woman, told the deputy she was lost and trying to find a friend that ran out of gas.An investigation revealed she didn't have a valid driver’s license -- and called a friend to pick her up.Meanwhile, about 45 minutes later, around 2:30 a.m., a second vehicle was stopped for speeding, operating left of center and displaying false registration on I-41 southbound near County Trunk D.The driver, a 20-year-old Milwaukee man, didn't have a valid driver’s license and was found to be on probation for auto theft.A passenger, an 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was also found to be on probation for auto theft -- and authorities say she has a violent criminal history to include a robbery conviction in August of 2016.A third passenger, a 16-year-old Milwaukee girl, was also taken into custody for obstructing.During the investigation, evidence of drug use was located and the car was searched.

Part of I-41 shut down after truck's wheel caught fire near Allenton

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Part of I-41 had to be shut down in Washington County Monday morning, October 16th after a truck's wheel caught fire.It happened near Allenton around 5:00 a.m.The semi driver noticed a bright flash and then saw flames coming from the tanker's tires.No one was hurt.We're told the tanker was filled with wax.

No valid license: 17-year-old boy's vehicle clocked at 119 mph during pursuit in Washington Co.

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A 17-year-old boy from Milwaukee was arrested following a pursuit in Washington County Sunday, October 8th -- reaching speeds of up to 119 miles-per-hour.According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, shortly before midnight Sunday night, a deputy conducting traffic enforcement on I-41 near County Trunk K noticed a vehicle headed southbound -- traveling at 104 miles-per-hour.The driver then increased the vehicle's speed and began to elude the deputy.Another deputy clocked the vehicle at 119 miles-per-hour south of the initial location.Upon seeing the second squad, officials say the boy opted to pull over.He was arrested on outstanding warrants and felony eluding, and he was also cited for speed and not having a valid license.Sheriff's officials said in a release: "He also received a valuable lesson that radio waves travel at the velocity that is equal to the speed of light – roughly 186,282 miles per second – traveling in a vacuum; just a bit faster than his car."

911 butt dial inside bar leads to arrest of 25-year-old man in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A 25-year-old Random Lake man was arrested after the Washington County Sheriff's Office says he butt dialed 911 inside a bar and dispatchers overheard him admitting he wasn't OK to drive and was searching for his keys.Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, October 8th, the sheriff's office says a 25-year-old Random Lake man accidentally called 911 while at a tavern in the Town of Farmington.

Update: Missing, endangered 56-year-old Germantown woman found safe

GERMANTOWN -- Germantown police said in an update to their Facebook page Wednesday, October 4th a missing 56-year-old woman has been located.There was concern after Linda Radtke was reportedly last seen in her home near Highland Road and Mary Buth Lane around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.Police said she had no access to a vehicle and was believed to be on foot.Police indicated they had information to suggest she was not only missing, but endangered.In the update, police said she was located in Germantown and is fine.

Traffic stop led to arrest of man with 2 submachine guns, 900 rounds of ammunition: "Nothing seemed right"

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tennessee -- A man caught carrying numerous weapons including two submachine guns and 900 rounds of ammunition had lost custody of his children and written hostile letters to local judges, authorities said Wednesday.Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said Scott Edmisten won't talk, so officials are still trying to determine why he had the weapons, as well as a mask and black fatigues, when he was pulled over for speeding before dawn on Monday.Graybeal said guns and ammunition are common in Tennessee, but that it was "odd" for all the guns and clips to be loaded, and for Edmisten to have 900 more rounds and survival gear.

WASHINGTON COUNTY --  A 51-year-old Milwaukee man was taken into custody early Sunday morning, September 17th following  two police pursuits and standoffs in Washington County.It began around 1:50 a.m. after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received two separate 911 calls relating to a white SUV “all over the road” on County Trunk NN near Church Drive in the Town of Jackson.The vehicle was last seen by the callers northbound on 18th Avenue from NN.West Bend police observed the vehicle on Paradise Drive near Peters Drive in the Town of West Bend and attempted to stop the vehicle.
