Chicago's lack of snow in 2017 sets 146-year record

CHICAGO — Chicago hasn't logged any snow on the ground in January or February for the first time in the 146 years that the National Weather Service has been keeping track.Traces have fallen, but not enough to record.

Health officials advise against eating snow: "Even though it looks good, it really may not be safe"

EAU CLAIRE -- It's sort of a winter tradition -- kids trying to catch falling snowflakes with their tongues, but health officials are telling parents to avoid eating snow.They say if it's an emergency, and snow is the only source of water available, eating a small amount is fine.But health officials say even if it looks pure and white, snow can contain harmful chemicals before it hits the ground."You know, snow and rain filter our atmosphere, so as it's coming on down, it's actually catching different particles that may be in the air that we can't even see.

Drivers, exercise caution! Jefferson County expected to get hit hard by storm

JEFFERSON COUNTY --  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather ADVISORY for all of southeastern Wisconsin from 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24th to midnight Thursday, January 26th.The snow could make for a messy Wednesday morning commute.Jefferson County is expected to get hit hard by this storm.

BLACKSBURG, Virginia — As a snowstorm brought several inches of fresh powder across the East Coast, the Georgia Tech swim team took the internet by storm.According to a post on the Georgia Tech Facebook page, the swimmers got snowed into their hotel after their meet at Virginia Tech was cancelled -- so they went outside for a little extra practice.The video shows the swimmers working on their  4×50 relay, as they glide across the snow in their respective swim styles.

Medical examiner identifies 3 men who died in December after shoveling snow

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday, December 19th identified two people who died while shoveling snow.55-year-old Rickey Richardson of Milwaukee passed away on December 12th at Froedtert Hospital.The medical examiner's report indicates Richardson died as a result of hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
