Bitterly cold start to the work week has police issuing an important warning

MILWAUKEE -- We're in for a bitterly cold start to the work week -- and that has Milwaukee police issuing a reminder.The Milwaukee Police Department tweeted the following message on Sunday, January 10th:Police say a vehicle with the keys inside provides an opportunity for thieves -- and we have seen a number of thefts of vehicles in recent weeks and months in and around Milwaukee.Peak hours for these thefts are between 4:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.Police suggest using a remote starter or getting a club to the lock the wheel instead.Milwaukee police say there are about ten cars typically targeted for thefts.

Alderman announces pilot program for snow plowing within specific alleys this season

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Alderman Ashanti Hamilton has announced that the 1st Aldermanic District will be part of a city-sponsored pilot program for snow plowing this winter within specific alley sections.The Department of Public Works’ trial program will provide city officials with valuable information to determine the feasibility and cost of plowing alleys citywide.Under the pilot program, snow plows will clear snow after a minimum accumulation of three inches.The selected alley sections are within the boundaries of W.

Wauwatosa Fire officials on scene of separate incidents involving trees on homes during storm

WAUWATOSA -- Officials with the Wauwatosa Fire Department on Monday, December 28th were called out for two large trees that came down on homes -- in separate incidents.The first incident happened on Church Street near Hillcrest Drive around 7:30 a.m.The second incident happened on N. 110th Place just before 3:00 p.m.We're told both of the trees that fell led to structural damage to these homes -- but no one was hurt.No one had to be displaced from either home as a result of these incidents.City crews hauled the tree away from the home on Church Street, and a tree removal company handled the tree at N. 110th Place.
