Earlier this year, Jan. 16 was the last time we saw temperatures at this value. Below is a timeline of the snow and cold air.
Before the coldest air swings in, southeast Wisconsin will have some snow showers possible during the afternoon. Visibility will decrease during the time of the snow showers; be sure to allow yourself time and to drive slow.
Immediately following the snow showers, wind speeds and wind gusts will pick up. The wind will continue throughout the rest of Wednesday.
After a strong blast of wind, wind chill values and temperatures will drop, creating a very cold environment early Thursday morning. Wind chills will be below zero.
Temperatures won't recover much for Thursday; highs will only warm up to near 14 degrees.
