The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Dodge and Jefferson counties Monday afternoon, Oct. 23.

The warning expired at 4:30 p.m. Anyone in the area is encouraged to remain indoors until the storm passes.

FOX6 viewers sent pictures of hail that then fell in Watertown. The white coloration happens if the water in the storm freezes instantaneously when colliding with the hailstone, as air bubbles get trapped in the newly formed ice. However, if the water freezes slowly, the air bubbles can escape and the new ice will be clear.
