Wisconsin storm damage, first tornado warning issued in February

Storm damage in southeastern Wisconsin

Storms passed through Green, Dane, Rock and Jefferson counties in the evening.

MILWAUKEE - Tornado and thunderstorm warnings swept through southern Wisconsin on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Storms passed through Green, Dane, Rock and Jefferson counties in the early evening.

There are reports of damage in Edgerton.

"I had gone out on our back deck and it was like, really weird, it was like a dark fog," said resident Patty Pumfrey. "And I’ve never quite seen that before and the tornado sirens were going off and on."

It was the first time there was a tornado warning, and possible tornado, reported in February in Wisconsin.

"I'm still kind of a little bit in shock that it happened, it's exciting," said storm chaser Tom Purdy. "I think it's a great teaching and learning lesson that it can happen anytime anywhere, so storms need to be taken very seriously. Even if it is February, even if there is still snow on the ground, they still happen."
