Milwaukee woman found dead in garbage cart

Family is speaking out after a woman was found shot and killed in a garbage cart near a church in Milwaukee and nobody has been arrested.

Nobody has been arrested after a woman was found shot and killed in a garbage cart near a church in Milwaukee on Monday, Dec. 2.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the 40-year-old woman as Myeshia Moore. She was found in the alley behind Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, near 38th and Lloyd.

Moore’s family said the homicide hits home.

"The holidays is coming up and it’s just hard," said her aunt, Doris Runnels. "This question needs to be asked: Why did you do her like that, you know? To find your loved one just put in the trash like she was a nobody, she did belong to somebody."

The way she was found and the lack of arrests has family members frustrated.

"I just want people to know Myeisha had family, she was loved, and we just pray that we get justice for Myeisha," the victim’s cousin, Lakesha Runnels, said.

Her loved ones don't know who would do this, or why.

"She was a free-hearted person. She loved everybody," Doris Runnels said. "And what they did to her she really didn’t deserve."

As a memorial for Moore sits in front of the alley where she was found, loved ones hope her case won't be forgotten and hope her killer is held responsible.

The family has a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for funeral expenses.
