One person rescued after car ends up in Lake Michigan near Village of Belgium

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in which a car ended up in Lake Michigan off County Highway D near the Village of Belgium.It happened shortly after 5:30 p.m.The Belgium Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, and the Fredonia Marshal were on scene.We're told one person was rescued from the vehicle.

Police: Body of deceased male pulled from Lake Michigan Monday afternoon

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say the body of a deceased male was pulled from Lake Michigan on Monday afternoon, October 6th.The body was recovered about a mile east/northeast from McKinley Marina just after noon on Monday.Police say the man's body was spotted by a boater in the area.Milwaukee Police Department's Harbor Patrol assisted in recovering the body.The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the man's death.Police tell FOX6 News foul play is not suspected in this case.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates.

Lake Express Ferry moved out of storage for 2014 season

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  It’s a sign that summer isn’t too far away — the Lake Express Ferry was moved out of storage Tuesday morning, April 8th and made its annual trip from its winter home along the Menomonee River Valley out to the shores of Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan ice cover breaks 37-year-old record

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Lake Michigan's ice cover has set a record.The federal government's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor reports that ice spread across 93.29 percent of the lake's surface area on Saturday.

Strong winds, warmer temps broke down Lake Michigan ice

Hundreds jump in icy waters during Special Olympics Polar Plunge

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The icy cold waters of Lake Michigan couldn't deter hundreds of people from taking part in the Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 15th.Around 400 winter warriors took a dip in the freezing lake to help raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin.
