City of Racine submits Foxconn-related plan to divert 7M gallons of water out of Lake Michigan each day

RACINE -- To help fuel the Foxconn project, the City of Racine is looking to divert around seven million gallons of water out of Lake Michigan each day.The city submitted an application with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to divert the water to the far southwest part of Mount Pleasant.Its primary purpose will be to serve the planned Foxconn plant.The DNR has 90 days to review the application and determine whether the plan will need approval from all eight states that border the Great Lakes.

Frontage road work begins for Foxconn plant; traffic not affected on I-94

RACINE — The first major construction work related to the Foxconn Technology Group development begins Monday in Racine County when frontage roads along Interstate 94 will be upgraded.The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the east and west frontage roads between Highway 20 and Highway KR will be reconstructed.

Eau Claire lawsuit could impact Foxconn, other developments

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Justice's solicitor general is warning a lawsuit challenging an economic development project in Eau Claire could "imperil" the $10 billion Foxconn complex in Racine County and other ventures in the state.The state wants in intervene in the lawsuit filed on behalf of some Eau Claire taxpayers who say the city abused Wisconsin's tax incremental financing law that includes cash payments to a private developer or company.The State Journal says the lawsuit brought by the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty on behalf of the taxpayers is currently before the state Supreme Court.Solicitor General Misha Tseytlin says that if the court were to side with the plaintiffs, it "would imperil numerous projects critical to Wisconsin's economic growth, including the Village of Mount Pleasant's recent agreement with Foxconn Technology Group." That project includes $100 million in cash incentives.
