Drive sober, or get pulled over: Law enforcement agencies step up patrols during Labor Day weekend

MILWAUKEE -- As the Labor Day holiday weekend got underway Friday, Aug. 30, the Milwaukee Police Department hosted a "Street Roll Call" to discourage impaired driving.Following the roll call, 40 law enforcement agencies from Milwaukee and Waukesha counties deployed OWI Task Force officers into communities to detect, stop, and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.

Prosecutors: Driver accused in crash that killed motorcyclist on I-94 hid in SUV amid manhunt

Caught on camera: Semi driver cited after crashing into tow truck near Mitchell Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- A semi driver received two citations after a crash involving a tow truck near the Mitchell Interchange Monday, Aug. 26.It happened shortly after 11 a.m.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said the tow truck driver was on the scene of a separate crash when the semi, headed southbound through the Mitchell Interchange, struck the tow truck.The semi's cab separated from its base after the impact, and the trailer flipped on its side, blocking all three lanes of traffic.The tow truck slammed into the wall, and the driver was trapped in the cab.

Driver ID'd in crash that injured motorcyclist on I-94 near Drexel Avenue

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office identified the driver involved in a crash on I-94 in Oak Creek that backed up traffic for hours on Friday, Aug. 23.Officials say 37-year-old Tiondras Dyson was driving an SUV that struck a motorcycle on I-94 northbound just south of the Drexel exit around 4 p.m.The female driver of the motorcycle sustained multiple injuries.

MCSO: Semi driver who caused crash in Hale Interchange didn't have proper license

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- A man driving a semi truck -- who didn't have a proper license to do so -- caused a multi-vehicle crash in the Hale Interchange on Friday, Aug. 23.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the full-sized semi truck rear-ended two vehicles on I-894 southbound at the start of the north to west ramp.

Man accused of shooting at good Samaritans on Hawley Road ramp enters insanity plea

MILWAUKEE -- A West Allis man accused of firing a handgun at some good Samaritans on the Hawley Road off-ramp from I-94 westbound on Aug. 6 pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity on Tuesday, Aug. 20.Austin Fountaine, 22, was in court Tuesday for his arraignment, during which he entered the special NGI plea.

Sheriff: 6 vehicles involved in crash that closed lane on I-94 near Puetz in Oak Creek

OAK CREEK -- Five vehicles and a semi were involved in a crash that prompted a lane closure on I-94 northbound near Puetz Road in Oak Creek Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17.It happened around 1 p.m.One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said.One lane of the freeway was closed after the crash, while two other lanes remained open.The freeway reopened by about 2:15 p.m.The cause of the crash was under investigation.
