80mph in a 50: Acting Sheriff Schmidt stops alleged reckless driver in Mitchell Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- Acting Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Schmidt on the day after Christmas, Tuesday, December 26th stopped a driver traveling more than 30 miles-per-hour over the speed limit, and traveling recklessly in the Mitchell Interchange.It happened on I-43 SB near Howard around 5:30 p.m. A news release from MCSO indicates the driver was cutting in and out of lanes of traffic.Acting Sheriff Schmidt paced the vehicle with his speedometer and determined it was going approximately 80 miles-per-hour in a 50 miles-per-hour zone."So I hit the sirens and I actually had to use a couple of different sounds.

Sheriff's office: Milwaukee man found in Greenfield park died of apparent natural causes

GREENFIELD -- A man walking his dog in Kulwicki Park in Greenfield, called 911 after finding an elderly man unresponsive in a vehicle.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27th.Officials say the man walking his dog noticed the elderly man had not changed positions for over ten minutes in his vehicle.

Guilty plea from woman accused of driving drunk, wrong way on I-41 for nearly 10 miles

MILWAUKEE -- Tamara McVicker, an accused wrong-way driver, who prosecutors say drove nearly 10 miles the wrong way on I-41 in April has been convicted after reaching a plea deal in the case against her.29-year-old Tamara McVicker on December 12th pleaded guilty to two charges: Second degree recklessly endangering safety, and OWI, second offense.She'll be sentenced on February 21st.According to a criminal complaint, around 3:00 a.m. on April 9th, Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to multiple reports of a wrong-way driver headed southbound in the northbound lanes of 41/45.

WHITEFISH BAY -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reports a crash closed all lanes of I-43 southbound near Good Hope Road Saturday night, November 18th.A FOX6 News reporter drove by the scene and reported multiple vehicles were involved.Officials said Whitefish Bay police were pursuing a suspect vehicle that got onto the highway.

MILWAUKEE -- A 27-year-old Greenfield man was struck by a vehicle as he was putting gas into his disabled vehicle on I-43 southbound near the Holt Avenue off-ramp Saturday night, November 11th.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the deceased has been identified as Angelo Quin.Sheriff's officials say the driver of the striking vehicle stopped in the left distress lane and ran across all lanes of traffic to rush to the aid of Quin, after striking him around 9:00 p.m.Good Samaritans attempted to give CPR until deputies and Milwaukee Fire Department personnel arrived on scene to continue life-saving measures.16-year-old Josh Herkert was on his way home after ice skating with friends when he came upon the accident.
