GREENFIELD -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash from Friday evening, November 11th.The Greenfield Fire Department was called to the scene of the crash around 6:45 p.m. at the eastbound off-ramp from I-894 at Loomis Road.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County's sheriff says he detained an airline passenger who became drunk and disorderly on a flight originating in Milwaukee.Sheriff David Clarke said Monday, September 26th the male passenger was intoxicated, profane and harassing the flight attendants and passengers during the flight to Charlotte, North Carolina Saturday.Clarke says he told the man to "chill out" when the passenger began harassing a flight attendant.

FRANKLIN -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit-and-run crash that happened Monday, August 22nd on an off-ramp from I-94 to Ryan Road.It happened around 11:15 a.m.Officials say a car hit the back of a semi on the off-ramp, and the people inside took off running.The person who is believed to have been the driver is in custody.

Sheriff David Clarke is writing a book; Rebel Sheriff: Beyond the hashtags of race, crime and politics

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is writing a book.Clarke signed a book agreement with Worthy Publishing Group, a division of Worthy Inc. -- a Delaware company located in Franklin, Tennessee.The book, titled Rebel Sheriff: Beyond the hashtags of race, crime and politics, will chronicle Sheriff Clarke's nearly four decades in law enforcement, including his 24 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, that culminated as Milwaukee County's top cop.The story will detail how aspects of his upbringing like faith, education and family influence shaped his views on race, crime and politics.The book is tentatively scheduled for release in 2017.

Sheriff's officials: Man found homemade explosive on road, retrieved it, drove it to his workplace

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office's bomb disposal unit on Thursday, July 21st was called out to a home in the Town of Addison in Washington County for a suspicious and possibly explosive device found on a rural road.Upon deputies’ arrival, they found that an Addison resident had found a homemade explosive on a nearby road.The man retrieved the object and drove it to his workplace -- where authorities responded and examined the device.As is standard in these cases, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and members of their bomb disposal unit responded to the call.After deputies examined the object, they made the object safe, moving and dismantling it in a safe area.The makeup and content of approximately one quarter pound of explosive material was deemed to be extremely dangerous to not only the builder(s) of the device, but anyone within proximity of the device upon detonation, with the potential of death or substantial injury to anyone in the area.Officials ask that people stay away from and avoid any handling of or the transportation of any type of suspicious package or potential explosive material they may encounter or observe and immediately call 911.Sheriff’s officials are seeking any information on those that may be involved in this case or anyone involved in manufacturing home-made explosives.This case remains under investigation.

Sheriff's Office: Baby dies after inmate with special needs gives birth at Milwaukee County Jail

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office say a baby was found unresponsive at the Milwaukee County Jail Thursday morning, July 14th after an inmate with special needs gave birth.According to the Sheriff's Office, a correctional officer making a routine housing unit inspection in the Special Needs section of the Milwaukee County Jail found a woman holding a baby.The inmate had not notified anyone that she was going into labor.Milwaukee Fire Department emergency personnel and jail medical staff responded.The baby was pronounced dead.The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.The inmate was transported to the hospital.An investigation is underway.

Mayor Barrett, at Sherman Park, responds to accusations he's "clueless" about how to solve problems

MILWAUKEE -- There was a parade on the Fourth of July in Milwaukee's Sherman Park neighborhood -- as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett responded to accusations that he was "clueless" about how to solve problems in the park long-term.Neighbors told FOX6 News there has been an increased police presence in Sherman Park since Wednesday night, June 29th when police and deputies responded to the park in riot gear, after young people were apparently throwing rocks and bottles -- damaging the window of a nearby BP gas station and the window of a Milwaukee County Transit System bus.

Plumbing leak from old jail causes flooding at Safety Building; SWAT equipment, case files damaged

MILWAUKEE -- Flooding at the Safety Building caused by a plumbing leak from the old jail on Sunday, June 12th damaged several areas in the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, an MCSO spokeswoman said in a statement issued to FOX6 News.Sheriff's officials say SWAT armory equipment, records and munitions were saturated, and water was raining from the ceiling and running down the hall and into the Sheriff’s administrative office storage room below.PHOTO GALLERYAccording to the Sheriff's Office, personnel record file cabinets were covered with plastic to prevent damage to the contents in the affected storage room.
