Nearly 200 phone scam attempts reported to We Energies over past 2 days

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies customers have been the targets of a phone scam that has affected nearly 200 customers throughout southeast Wisconsin and the Fox Valley.A news release from We Energies says scammers are using a service disconnection threat -- and trying to convince customers to purchase prepaid debit cards and provide the card information to them.We Energies reminds all customers that it does not solicit payment from customers in a threatening manner.

ATF offers $5K reward for information after 2 explosions in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has offered a $5,000 reward for information related to "recent explosions" that led to the closure of Coffee Road and Woelfel Road beginning late Monday afternoon, Sept. 17.ATF officials said investigators are looking into two explosions that happened on Coffee near Woelfel.

WAUWATOSA -- A gas leak forced the closure of at least two businesses Wednesday evening, Aug. 22.A We Energies' spokeswoman said a construction crew working in the area near 112th and Burleigh struck a natural gas line, and We Energies' crews responded to make repairs.The situation was resolved around 7:15 p.m.

Construction crew strikes gas line, closing WIS 83 in both directions near Chenequa in Waukesha County

CHENEQUA -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation on Thursday, Aug. 9 reported all lanes closed in both directions on WIS 83 northbound/southbound near County Highway K, near Chenequa in Waukesha County due to a "utility emergency."We're told a construction crew struck a natural gas line around 11 a.m.We Energies crews responded and cut off the flow of natural gas, and the situation was downgraded.

Power outages impact thousands of customers in Washington County

HARTFORD -- The We Energies Outage Map Wednesday night, Aug. 8 showed thousands of people without power in Washington County.As of 8 p.m., there were more than 300 outages reported in the area, impacting more than 8,000 customers.ATC officials said one of the transmission lines near West Bend and Hartford tripped out of service.

Strong to severe storms knock out power for thousands across southeast Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE -- Strong to severe storms pushing across southeast Wisconsin Sunday afternoon, July 1 knocked out power across the area.We Energies' officials said as of 10 p.m. Sunday they had restored power to 29,000 customers -- with 8,500 remaining without power.We're told all available resources were being utilized to restore power as quickly as possible -- and crews would work through the night.The storms, bringing with them high winds, moved out by Sunday evening.The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch impacting all of southeast Wisconsin until 7 p.m.

Concrete falls onto gas main after water main break near 7th and Dakota

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies crews were on scene near 7th and Dakota Tuesday, June 26 for a water main break and gas leak.We're told a piece of concrete fell onto a gas main as a contractor was addressing the water main break, which caused a natural gas leak.City officials came in and shut off the water so that We Energies crews could turn off the flow of gas.

'Could not be more proud:' We Energies recognized nationally for restoration efforts in Puerto Rico

PUERTO RICO -- We Energies has received national recognition was a result of their power restoration efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria hit in September.An industry trade group, the Edison Electric Institute, honored We Energies with an "Emergency Assistance Award" at a ceremony in San Diego on June 5, according to a news release from We Energies officials.According to the release, We Energies, along with their sister company Wisconsin Public Service, sent more than 70 employees to Puerto Rico in January.
