We Energies to offer refund to customers after exporting power
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Business Journal says We Energies is planning a refund of $15 million to $18 million for its customers.That's because the coal-fired plants in Oak Creek have been exporting power to other states.The refund will amount to about one-half of one percent of customers' energy bills.It could either involve a credit on customer bills late this year, or it could go toward a discount on a future rate increase.
We Energies tells customers to brace for higher heating bills
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- With record low temperatures hitting hard this winter, We Energies is warning customers to prepare for a nasty January bill -- 35 to 40% higher than last January.The company says the higher prices are due to the fact that more natural gas was deliver to retail customer last month than any other month in their history.It's also the coldest winter yet for Marlene Harow, who moved back to Milwaukee from California."It's been very, very chilling -- especially with the temperature being well below, five below, 10 below, 20 below," said Harow.Like many people her age, Harow relocated to take care of her aging father.
