2 men lost their lives after in wrong-way, head-on collision in Township of Trenton

TOWNSHIP OF TRENTON -- A 24-year-old man from Sun Prairie and a 39-year-old man from Beaver Dam died from injuries suffered in a head-on collision in the Township of Trenton late Sunday, May 26.The Dodge County Sheriff's Office said they received word of a motor vehicle crash on US 151 just north of Redwood Road shortly after 10 p.m.Officials said their investigation showed a minivan was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of US 151 and struck a southbound car in a head-on collision.The driver of the van, Eric Hagenbart, 39, of Beaver Dam, was flown from the scene by Flight for Life to Aurora Hospital in Summit with life-threatening injuries.

Update: 71-year-old woman dies after driver of box truck blew stop sign

DODGE COUNTY -- A 71-year-old Beaver Dam woman has died following a crash involving her vehicle and a box truck in the Township of Fox Lake in Dodge County Thursday, May 23.It happened shortly before 2 p.m. on County A at County C.Officials with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office said an investigation revealed the box truck was headed south on County C, approaching County A -- with the Beaver Dam woman, in a Chevrolet Equinox, headed east on County A.

Man in stable condition after shooting in Village of Reeseville, suspects sought

DODGE COUNTY -- A 26-year-old Reeseville man is in stable condition following a shooting Thursday night, May 16 in Dodge County.According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, around 9:30 p.m. officials responded to a report of a shooting that occurred Main Street and North Avenue in the Village of Reeseville.Initial reports indicated that two male subjects wearing dark clothing confronted a 26-year-old Reeseville man and during the confrontation, he sustained a gunshot wound.His injuries were non-life threatening and he is in stable condition at UW Hospital in Madison.The suspects fled the scene prior to the incident being reported to law enforcement.The sheriff’s office is currently investigating the shooting and asks that if anyone has information related to the incident, that they please contact the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office at 920-386-3726 and ask to speak with Detective Willmann or Detective Hopp.No further information is able to be released at this time, as it is an active investigation.

'Failed to stop for a stop sign:' 1 dead, 4 injured following 2-vehicle crash in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY -- One person was killed and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Dodge County Thursday night, May 9 at the intersection of Hochheim Road and Freedom Road in the Town of Theresa.The deceased was identified as Alex Nortman, 18 of Mayville.According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, an initial investigation showed a car was traveling northbound on Freedom Road when it failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Hochheim Road.The car was driven by a 19-year-old man from Mayville -- who was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.There were three other passengers in the car -- including Nortman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.The two additional passengers were a 16-year-old girl from Theresa, who was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening -- and a 19-year-old man from Mayville who was flown from the scene to the hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening.The driver of the pickup, a 26-year-old man from rural Mayville, was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Watertown man wanted for pursuit, crash later found sleeping in cooler at golf clubhouse

DODGE COUNTY -- A 41-year-old Watertown man is being held on a probation hold after a series of events led authorities to him sleeping in a cooler at the Windwood Country Club near Watertown on Friday evening, April 5.A news release from the Dodge County Sheriff's Office says the Watertown man was being sought in connection with a police pursuit days earlier (March 29)  involving the Watertown Police Department, as well as leaving his vehicle which was found crashed on the end of a cul-de-sac just outside of Watertown.Later on April 5, family and friends of the Watertown man expressed concern because they had not heard from the subject.

'Stay off the roads' if you can: Dodge County Highway Department to limit staff's exposure to elements

DODGE COUNTY -- Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt in a news release Tuesday, Jan. 29 asked that everyone please stay off the road, and stay indoors if at all possible through Thursday, Jan. 31 amid the wind chill warning, in effect until noon Thursday.The sheriff, in contact with Dodge County Highway Commissioner Brian Field, said the highway department would limit the staff's exposure to the elements, and focus strictly on US, state and major county highways.
