West Allis woman breaks neck after falling asleep behind the wheel, rolling vehicle

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A West Allis woman broke her neck in a crash after Washington County sheriff's officials say she fell asleep behind the wheel.The crash happened Saturday night, Feb. 17 on I-41 near County Highway D in the Town of Wayne, around 11 p.m.Sheriff's officials say the vehicle driven by the West Allis woman, 61, was headed southbound when the woman fell asleep and lost control.

Milwaukee man arrested for OWI, 4th offense after vehicle found in ditch on I-41

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A Milwaukee man, 33, was arrested for OWI, fourth offense after a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper found his vehicle in a ditch on I-41 SB near County Highway D early Sunday, Feb. 4.According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, shortly after 7 a.m., the trooper responded to the scene and spoke with the man, who was taken to a nearby indoor facility, where standardized field sobriety tests were conducted.

West Bend police warn about telemarketers seeking donations for "Police & Troopers"

WEST BEND -- The West Bend Police Department is warning residents about telemarketers seeking donations for "Americans for Police & Trooper Safety.""Soliciting for the Military, the police, fallen soldiers," said Tom Pihringer.Tom Pihringer is no stranger to telemarketers pushing for a donation."That's what I can't figure out; how they would get a cellphone number," said Pihringer.For years, the 64-year-old has received calls from several organizations."It boils me up really bad," said Pihringer.Police have a new telemarketing alert for people to keep in mind."I believe once a call was made in the area it was a sign that many more were going to be made," said Jackson Police Chief Jed Dolnick.Jackson police recently posted to a message on social media warning residents of telemarketers seeking donations for police and state troopers.In the Facebook post, officials say the treasurer, David Dierks, is associated with a number of other organizations that use the police name to raise funds.

Sheriff's officials: Driver, possibly impaired, causes head-on crash on Highway 45

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Washington County sheriff's officials late Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31, were called out to a head-on crash on Highway 45.It began around 4:30 p.m.Sheriff's officials said prior to the crash, they received multiple calls in regards to the poor driving of the suspect vehicle on Highway 45 NB from Highway 175 -- with some indicating the driver was possibly impaired.At 4:45 p.m., officials were notified that the suspect vehicle crossed over the median and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

Not guilty due to mental disease: Man ordered committed for 31+ years after attack on 13-year-old neighbor

RICHFIELD -- A man accused in connection with a brutal attack on his 13-year-old neighbor in Richfield in August has been ordered committed.Brian Olson, 47, on Jan. 11 pleaded no contest, and was found guilty but not guilty due to mental disease/defect on two counts -- mayhem, use of a dangerous weapon and failing to comply with an officer taking a person into custody.He was then ordered committed for 31 1/2 years.

South Milwaukee man arrested twice for drunk driving within 4 hours

WEST BEND -- A 26-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested twice in four hours for drunk driving Thursday night, January 4th.At around 5:45 p.m., West Bend police said an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near the area of Barton Avenue and Main Street.

Alcohol believed to have been factor in New Year's Day crash in Town of Germantown

GERMANTOWN -- Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a crash that happened early on New Year's Day in the Town of Germantown.It happened on Division Road around 6:00 a.m.Washington County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene.We're told the injuries suffered by the sole occupant of the vehicle were not severe.PHOTO GALLERY 

Germantown police: "Rocket motor shell" discovered at Waste Management recycling facility

GERMANTOWN -- Germantown police are issuing a warning after a "rocket motor shell" was discovered at a recycling facility.According to police, on December 21st around noon, staff at Waste Management on Grant Drive in Germantown contacted police requesting assistance with the shell that was found at their facility after someone apparently placed it in a recycling container and it was unknowingly transported to the facility.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit responded and took custody of the shell, which they determined posed no risk.Police said "it should go without saying that this is not the way to dispose of items like this."If you happen to find an item like this, you're asked to contact police so they can deal with them with minimal disruption to the public and businesses.Police said they do not know where this rocket motor shell originally came from.
