'Reduce speeds:' Milwaukee County sheriff reports 62 crashes in 13 hours on snowy roadways

MILWAUKEE -- As a winter storm brought several inches of snow to southeastern Wisconsin starting Friday night, Jan. 17 (with more than seven inches falling in Ozaukee County by Saturday afternoon), slick roadways likely contributed to dozens of crashes across Milwaukee County.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, there were 62 crashes between 5 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday -- a 13-hour span.

Of them, 24 only resulted in property damage, and 37 were disabled vehicles -- such as spinouts. Luckily, only one minor injury was reported among the incidents.

As of about 4:20 p.m. Saturday, MCSO officials reported 57 disabled vehicles, 40 crashes involving property damage, two crashes involving injury, and one involving OWI.

Authorities urged drivers to reduce speeds and drive carefully.
