Southeast Wisconsin lake effect snow; messy Monday commute expected

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for all of southeast Wisconsin for light freezing drizzle  and flurries through 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan 6. 

Portions of Milwaukee and almost all of Racine and Kenosha counties saw snow through the first half of Monday. Snow totals ranged from near 5" at Elmwood Park to near half an inch in Milwaukee.

Most areas inland saw light snow and a mix of freezing drizzle. Freezing drizzle will still be an impact through the early afternoon. Elevated and untreated surfaces can have a light icy glaze and be slick.

Gusty winds through Monday can blow snow in areas that received snow. Drive with caution through the rest of the day, but thankfully the lake effect snow is over with.
