Severe weather outlook
A warm front will move over Wisconsin on Tuesday, May 21 and help to create prime conditions for severe weather.
The warm front will be followed by a trailing cold front. That front will be the trigger for what could be a widespread severe event Tuesday night. Damaging straight line wind, large hail, heavy rain/flooding – as well as tornadoes – are expected.

The Storm Prediction Center has an increased threat for severe weather on Tuesday, with an Enhanced Risk area over most of Wisconsin and a Moderate Risk for southwestern and west central Wisconsin. All the FOX6 viewing area is under the Enhanced Risk, meaning that numerous severe storms are possible and that the storms will be more persistent and widespread.
Strong, damaging wind gusts of over 75 mph will be possible, along with large hail and a few spin-up tornadoes. There could be widespread power outages and downed trees, especially with how saturated the ground is. Some could also pick up over 1 inch of additional rainfall and deal with flooding. Be sure to charge devices ahead of time, and have a backup way to receive alerts if the power goes out, like a weather radio!
Our exclusive FOX Model shows a squall line along the cold front approaching our west counties between 7-8 p.m.
The main line will impact the Milwaukee Metro areas and most of southeastern Wisconsin by 9 or 10 p.m.
The back edge of the complex should be out over the lake by midnight.
