Sheriff: Wrong-way driver arrested after crash on I-94 at 35th Street

MILWAUKEE -- A wrong-way driver was arrested early Saturday, Oct. 12.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, just before 3:15 a.m., a report came in regarding a vehicle headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94 at 35th Street.The driver crashed into another vehicle headed eastbound.A passenger in the striking driver's vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.The driver and passenger in the vehicle that was struck were not hurt.The striking driver was arrested for OWI, first offense, causing injury, and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Police: Milwaukee man arrested on warrants after barricading himself in vehicle in Glendale

GLENDALE -- A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested on several felony warrants after barricading himself inside a vehicle near Good Hope Road and Port Washington Road Tuesday morning, Oct. 1.It began around 11:15 a.m., when Glendale officers spotted the man in the area.When officers tried making contact with him, police said he barricaded himself in the vehicle.

MCSO: Uber passenger arrested after driver reported assault on I-94

MILWAUKEE -- An Uber passenger was arrested after his driver reported an assault early Sunday, Sept. 29 on I-94 westbound near 35th Street.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, around 1:15 a.m., a deputy stopped to check on a vehicle he believed was disabled, and found the Uber driver, who said he was assaulted by his passenger, who ran from the vehicle.The driver said the passenger became upset because he didn't agree with the route the driver was taking.A verbal argument escalated into a physical one, during which MCSO officials said the Uber passenger punched the driver in the face and grabbed and jerked the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to travel across other lanes of traffic.The passenger was taken into custody on charges of recklessly endangering safety, battery, and disorderly conduct.Uber officials issued this statement Monday:

Sheriff: Man arrested after climbing onto Hoan Bridge maintenance ladder, hiding under bridge deck

MILWAUKEE -- A man was arrested Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28 after Milwaukee County sheriff's officials said he climbed onto a maintenance ladder on the Hoan Bridge, and hid under the bridge deck.MCSO officials said around 3 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on the southbound side of the Hoan Bridge on I-794.When deputies arrived, the man began walking away -- running across all lanes of traffic.He then jumped the median barrier wall to the northbound side, and while running northbound, he climbed over the ledge onto the maintenance ladder, using the ladder to climb down and hide under the bridge deck.Deputies "successfully communicated with him," MCSO officials said, and he climbed back up the ladder and was taken into custody.

Sheriff: Shotgun found in vehicle of man arrested for OWI, 4th offense

MILWAUKEE -- A shotgun was found in the vehicle of a man arrested for OWI, fourth offense early Saturday, Sept. 28, officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said.According to MCSO, around 8 a.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle on the eastbound Watertown Plank Road off-ramp to I-41/45 northbound.The driver, later identified as Robert Hildebrandt, displayed "all the classic signs of impairment," MCSO officials said.

Driver arrested for OWI after crash on I-94 EB at Hawley Road

MILWAUKEE -- A 28-year-old woman was arrested for OWI after a crash Sunday evening, Sept. 22 on I-94 eastbound near Hawley Road.It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m., and involved two vehicles -- with one passenger pinned inside the vehicle that was struck.That person was extricated, and taken to the hospital.Witnesses said the driver of the striking vehicle lost control of her vehicle, and then struck the other vehicle.A deputy detected and odor of intoxicants, and field sobriety tests were "performed poorly," sheriff's officials said.She was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and arrested on charges of OWI, causing great bodily harm.

Fire severely damages playground near 34th and Sheridan; no injuries

MILWAUKEE -- A fire severely damaged the playground near 34th and Sheridan in Milwaukee.It happened Saturday, Sept. 14 shortly before 10 p.m.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, Milwaukee Police Department, and Milwaukee Fire Department responded to the scene.The fire was extinguished, and the main jungle gym slide and surrounding play area suffered severe damage, sheriff's officials said.No one was hurt.

Deputy uses Narcan to revive driver who was stopped near 118th and Hampton

MILWAUKEE -- A driver was arrested for OWI  and possession of drug paraphernalia after a deputy had to use Narcan to revive him on 118th Street near Hampton Avenue Thursday, Sept. 12.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:15 p.m. a deputy was stopped behind a vehicle facing north on 118th Street.

Multi-vehicle wreck temporarily shuts down lanes of NB I-43 at Highland Avenue

MILWAUKEE -- The four right lanes of northbound I-43 were temporarily blocked at Highland Avenue because of a traffic incident involving three vehicles.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) says emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene -- and indicates there were no life-threatening injuries.The scene was fully cleared shortly after 2 p.m.

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) warned all residents on Wednesday, Sept. 4 about a phone scam in which callers are posing as Social Security Administration employees.If you have received or believe you have received one of these fraudulent calls, the MCSO indicates you should report the calls to the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271 or online at oig.ssa.gov/report.Officials say the phone numbers scammers use mirror actual numbers -- it is a concept referred to as "spoofing." Spoofing occurs when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity.

Issue with city pipe led to water on vehicles on I-94, west of the 27th Street bridge

MILWAUKEE -- An issue with a city pipe resulted in water coming down on vehicles on I-94, west of the 27th Street bridge on Tuesday, Sept. 3.Milwaukee County sheriff's officials said shortly before 6:30 p.m., officials with the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works turned on a water line that was recently turned off due to a leaking pipe.
