Plumbing leak from old jail causes flooding at Safety Building; SWAT equipment, case files damaged

MILWAUKEE -- Flooding at the Safety Building caused by a plumbing leak from the old jail on Sunday, June 12th damaged several areas in the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, an MCSO spokeswoman said in a statement issued to FOX6 News.Sheriff's officials say SWAT armory equipment, records and munitions were saturated, and water was raining from the ceiling and running down the hall and into the Sheriff’s administrative office storage room below.PHOTO GALLERYAccording to the Sheriff's Office, personnel record file cabinets were covered with plastic to prevent damage to the contents in the affected storage room.

Officials: Wrong-way driver crashes into vehicle with mother, two children inside

MILWAUKEE -- The northbound lanes of I-43 were closed for hours Sunday morning near the Marquette Interchange due to a crash involving a wrong-way driver.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) indicated in a news release that a 36-year-old Milwaukee man entered I-43 northbound from the Fond du Lac exit ramp -- and struck another vehicle head-on at I-43 northbound at Wells Street.

Three teens arrested after pursuit by Brown Deer police, other agencies

BROWN DEER -- Three teens were arrested and another three are on the run after an incident with Brown Deer police on Friday evening, June 17th.Officers were dispatched to Fairy Chasm Park around 7:00 p.m. for a report of multiple subjects in a vehicle waving around a gun.

Car carrier strikes overpass along southbound Hwy. 45

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says a semi-trailer car carrier struck an overpass in the southbound lanes of Highway 45 on Tuesday afternoon, May 31st.Officials say the trailer struck the overpass near Florist Avenue around 12:30 p.m. There was some debris tossed about -- but no injuries to report.

Sheriff's Office: 17 people arrested, accused of driving drunk over Memorial Day holiday weekend

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office have released statistics as it relates to drunken drivers arrested over Memorial Day weekend.Sheriff's officials say 17 arrests were made for drunken driving between Friday, May 27th and Tuesday, May 31st.The average prohibited alcohol concentration level was .14 -- almost double the legal limit.There were five repeat offenders arrested this holiday weekend, including one person for DUI -- sixth offense, and one person for DUI -- fifth offense.There were 12 first time offenders arrested over the holiday weekend.

Man from San Diego, with family in Greendale, dies after medical emergency on flight to Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office say a 36-year-old San Diego man died after suffering a medical emergency while on board a flight to Milwaukee.It happened early Monday morning, May 9th.Sheriff's officials were notified by General Mitchell International Airport officials of a medical emergency on board a flight to Milwaukee from Phoenix around 12:45 a.m.The flight crew reported an unresponsive passenger, unconscious and not breathing.Milwaukee County Airport Fire Department emergency personnel removed the man from the plane and continued resuscitation measures.Brendan Smith of San Diego was pronounced dead around 1:30 a.m. Smith's family in Greendale was notified.An investigation is underway.

Sheriff's Office: Two crashes in short succession on I-894 SB near Lincoln Avenue

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office say a crash happened on I-894 SB near Lincoln Avenue around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27th -- and shortly thereafter, there was a second crash in the same area.The first crash involved a box truck that crashed when there was a merging issue in which the bumpers of two vehicles got caught together.The far left lane was shut down as the vehicles were separated by officials.The second crash involved two vehicles, and happened behind the initial crash.
