Woman from Thailand, studying at Medical College of Wisconsin, struck by vehicle and killed

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office say a woman from Thailand, studying at the Medical College of Wisconsin was killed when she was hit by a vehicle on Monday morning, April 11th.It happened around 9:00 a.m.Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area near 87th Street and Watertown Plank Road -- an entrance to the Medical College grounds.A 65-year-old man driving a Chevy Tahoe had stopped to get directions and while following another vehicle, struck the pedestrian in the intersection which was marked with four-way stop signs.A trauma nurse at the scene called for medical help and life-saving efforts were made until a trauma surgeon called time of death at 9:15 a.m.The 32-year-old pedestrian, identified as Rattanawadee Kotewong, was from Thailand, and resided in Wauwatosa while a student attending the Medical College of Wisconsin.Any possible charges or citations are pending investigation and a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.Medical College of Wisconsin officials have released the following statement:

Man in custody on several charges; accused of waving gun on freeway, subsequent pursuit, crash

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a 21-year-old man was taken into custody on several charges, accused of waving a gun on the freeway following a road rage incident, leading officials on a pursuit, and eventually crashing into two parked cars on Sunday afternoon, April 3rd.This incident began on Sunday afternoon, around 1:15 p.m., when a 911 caller told dispatchers a driver had waved a firearm out the window of a vehicle in the Zoo Interchange, before the vehicle exited at Watertown Plank Road.Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies observed the suspect vehicle suddenly make a U-turn and re-enter the freeway -- heading southbound on I-41/US Highway 45.A pursuit then ensued, with the suspect vehicle exiting at Lincoln Avenue and heading eastbound at speeds above 70 miles-per-hour.Three marked Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office squads followed the suspect vehicle, before terminating the pursuit near 76th and National, after the suspect vehicle committed multiple high speed red light violations.The pursuit lasted for 1.8 miles.West Allis police found a vehicle with severe front end and driver's side damage in the entrance to the Market Place Plaza at 70th and National Avenue.

Woman injured in crash involving three vehicles on I-894 in West Allis

Rollover crash forces full closure of I-94 EB near 73rd Street in Zoo Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- I-94 EB was shut down on Sunday morning, March 6th due to a rollover crash.The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on I-94 EB near 73rd Street.Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials said the full closure in the Zoo Interchange impacted I-894 NB to I-94 EB, 45 SB to I-94 EB, I-94 EB west of the Zoo heading eastbound off at Highway 100 and back on at Hawley.A person who was inside the vehicle that rolled over was being extricated from the vehicle after the crash.The scene was cleared and lanes were reopened to traffic around 11:40 a.m.

Sheriff's officials seek charges against 24-year-old driver after wrong-way, head-on crash

GREENFIELD -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials are seeking charges against a 24-year-old driver accused in a wrong-way, head-on crash on I-894 early Sunday morning, March 6th.Sheriff's officials got a call around 2:30 a.m. regarding a wrong-way driver on I-894 at Greenfield Avenue.The caller indicated the 24-year-old driver from West Allis was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-894.Eventually, officials say the driver crashed head-on into a box truck while heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-43 at 92nd Street.The driver's vehicle "bounced off of the box truck" and struck another vehicle.The alleged wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital after she was extracted from the vehicle by officials with the Greenfield Fire Department.

Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office: 54-year-old West Allis man arrested for 9th DUI

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office say a man was arrested for his ninth DUI offense during "Operation Drive Sober" patrols this weekend.The 54-year-old West Allis man was arrested on Saturday afternoon, February 27th after deputies responded to a call regarding a reckless driver on I-41 to I-94 westbound -- shortly after 4:00 p.m.A caller indicated the driver exited at Highway 100.He was arrested outside his home near 104th and Greenfield Avenue -- and Sheriff's officials say a preliminary breath test resulted in a reading of .29.Records show the following drunk driving convictions for this man, according to Sheriff's officials:

Dump truck incident on westbound I-94 caused delays in Stadium Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- Two lanes were temporarily blocked on westbound I-94 through the Stadium Interchange Monday, February 22nd after a dump truck lost a load of dirt in the center lane.The scene was cleared shortly before 2:30 p.m.The Milwaukee Fire Department was on scene shortly after the incident happened at 9:30 a.m. to flush the roadway to clear the debris.Two of the lanes were blocked for nearly five hours while the cleanup was underway.

Man pronounced dead in Greenfield Park, cause appears to be related to bitter cold

WEST ALLIS -- An investigation is underway after a 60-year-old man died on Sunday morning, February 14th in Greenfield Park -- near 116th Street and Lincoln Avenue in West Allis.Shortly before 8:00 p.m., deputies with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office -- along with the West Allis Fire Department responded to Greenfield Park for a report of an unresponsive man.

No one hurt in crash involving school bus, minivan on I-43 north of Capitol

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say no one was hurt in a crash involving a school bus and a minivan on I-43 north of Capitol Drive on Monday evening, February 8th.It happened around 5:00 p.m.We're told the minivan ran into the back of the school bus.No children were on board the bus at the time.No injuries were reported.It's unclear at this point whether the weather played a role in this crash.
