Police believe pipe found near gas station in Wauwatosa was discarded, vs. intentionally placed there

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police said Monday, August 24th, after taking a look at surveillance video from the Speedway gas station near 68th and North Avenue, they haven't been able to determine where a metal pipe that prompted a Bomb Squad response on Sunday came from.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office's Bomb Squad was called out to the Speedway gas station on Sunday morning for a report of a suspicious object.It was reported that a pipe with two end caps was seen sitting next to a gas pump at the gas station.After observing the object, Wauwatosa police called the Bomb Squad to the scene.The nearby intersection was blocked off, and those who live in the area were asked to stay inside their homes.Bomb Squad officials used a robotic bomb disposal unit which carefully carried the pipe to a sandbagged area in the street -- and then worked to shoot off one of the end caps on the pipe so officials could take a look inside.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a 13-year-old boy threatened his case manager and social workers outside the Juvenile Justice Center -- before fleeing the center, resulting in a foot chase that left one deputy injured.It happened onĀ Monday, August 3rd, around 4:30 p.m.Sheriff's officials say the 13-year-old boy caused a disturbance outside the Juvenile Justice Center.The boy was in the process of being released from the Juvenile Justice Center into the custody of his case manager and two social workers --Ā set to be transported to the Lad Lake group home.Sheriff's officials say the boy threatened the case workers, saying, ā€œIā€™m about to bust you in your mouth!ā€He appeared to be about to strike the case worker, who flinched in fear, and he then fled.The boy is accused of ignoring deputiesā€™ orders to stop, and they apprehended him after a short foot pursuit.One deputy was injured in a fall during the chase.Sheriff's officials say the boy complained of an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.After being medically cleared, he became combative ā€“ spitting, kicking, slamming his head, throwing his body around, and being verbally abusive towards medical staff and deputies.

Two people dead after plane crashes, catches fire at Timmerman Airport

Sheriff's Office: Shots fired into vehicle on I-43 NB, between Hampton & Silver Spring

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials on Thursday afternoon, July 23rd were called out to I-43 northbound for a report of shots fired into a vehicle.It happened around 2:30 p.m. on I-43 northbound between Hampton Avenue and Silver Spring Drive.Sheriff's officials say the vehicle had a bullet hole in its left tail light -- but no one was injured.The victim told officials he was approaching Hampton Avenue when he saw a late model SUV -- possibly a Chevy Tahoe, coming up on him at a high rate of speed.Vehicles in the adjacent lane prevented him from moving over immediately, and he slowed down to attempt to change lanes.The victim told officials he then heard a gunshot -- and exited at Silver Spring Drive.The victim described the driver of the SUV as an African-American male in his 30s or 40s.Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call (414) 278-4788.

WEST ALLIS --Ā West Allis police say the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office'sĀ Explosive Ordnance Detection Unit (bomb squad)Ā was called out toĀ the Samā€™s Club Store in West Allis at Highway 100 and Greenfield Avenue on Tuesday evening, July 14th for a report of a 'bottle bomb.'This was the second call of the evening for the Sheriff's Office's EOD unit.The Sheriff's Office was notified about this incident around 8:30 p.m.West Allis police say there was a report of a bottle bomb, or Drano bomb in the parking lot at the Sam's Club store.The device was diffused by EOD unit officials.No one was injured.An investigation is underway as to who placed the bomb.
