Bomb threat emailed to FOX6 News, officials determine it was not credible

MILWAUKEE -- An all-clear was given at the Federal Courthouse and Milwaukee County Jail after someone emailed a bomb threat to FOX6 News.FOX6 News spotted law enforcement downtown around 9:30 a.m.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office quickly determined there was no credible threat.Milwaukee police say they are looking for a suspect.

Sheriff: Good Samaritan struck on freeway while helping occupants of disabled vehicle

MILWAUKEE -- A good Samaritan was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while assisting the occupants of a disabled vehicle on Saturday morning, Jan. 18.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said around 10 a.m., deputies and the West Allis Fire Department responded to multiple 911 callers reporting the crash on I-41/894 southbound at Greenfield Avenue.A preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota with three occupants was disabled in the right distress lane -- and a pickup truck with two occupants stopped at the scene to assist.While the driver of the pickup was standing outside of his vehicle, the driver of a Chevy Malibu coming from the east to the south ramp lost control and struck him.The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital.The driver of the Chevy Malibu consented to a voluntary blood draw.Sheriff's officials said an investigation was ongoing.

MILWAUKEE -- As a winter storm brought several inches of snow to southeastern Wisconsin starting Friday night, Jan. 17 (with more than seven inches falling in Ozaukee County by Saturday afternoon), slick roadways likely contributed to dozens of crashes across Milwaukee County.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, there were 62 crashes between 5 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday -- a 13-hour span.Of them, 24 only resulted in property damage, and 37 were disabled vehicles -- such as spinouts.

Semi crashes on I-43 near Good Hope due to 'extremely icy' roads, MCSO says

GLENDALE -- A semi crashed on northbound I-43 just north of Good Hope Road on Saturday morning, Jan. 11.The crash happened around 8 a.m.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office diverted all northbound traffic off the interstate at Good Hope Road.All lanes were back open before 11:30 a.m.According to the MCSO, the crash was caused by "extremely icy and hazardous road conditions."

MCSO: 2 semis involved in separate crashes on NB I-41

MILWAUKEE -- A semi overturned in the Zoo Interchange early Saturday morning, Jan. 11.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said driving conditions in the area were hazardous due to the weather.The semi overturned on the ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound I-41, MCSO said.

Sheriff: Milwaukee County Jail inmate found unconscious with 'ligature around his neck'

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County Jail inmate was taken to the hospital in critical condition after he was found unconscious with "a ligature around his neck" on Sunday evening, Jan. 5.The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m., according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.Sheriff's officials said a correctional officer was conducting rounds in the jail when he opened a cell door to check the welfare of a 34-year-old man -- and found him unconscious.Medical attention was immediately administered, and the man was transferred to a hospital in critical condition.The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene to conduct an independent investigation into this incident.

Sheriff: Death investigation closes ramp to Highway 145 northbound

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office was called out to the ramp to Highway 145 northbound Saturday, Jan. 4.The call came in around 4:15 p.m.Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said a deputy reported a body in the grass adjacent to the freeway at Highway 145 south of 124th Street.
