3 arrested after marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, cocaine, ecstasy found in home in Racine

RACINE -- Three people were taken into custody after drugs were found at a home in Racine as the Racine County Sheriff's Office's Metro Drug Unit served a search warrant at a home near Douglas and High Street Wednesday, August 23rd.The search warrant was served around 2:30 p.m.Officials located 1.25 pounds of marijuana, more than 100 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 163 hits of LSD, a quarter-ounce of cocaine, THC oil (dabs) and ecstasy.The total street value of the drugs has not yet been determined -- but officials say it could be over $10,000.Also found in the residence were digital scales, drug packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and money.A 33-year-old and 27-year-old from Racine were arrested, and a 20-year-old from Kenosha was arrested.

Driver of overturned truck in Racine Co. arrested for allegedly driving drunk

RACINE -- Racine County deputies responded to an overturned U-Haul truck on northbound I-94 late Friday, July 29th -- and ended up arresting the driver of that vehicle.Emergency crews were dispatched to I-94 just north of County Highway C in the Town of Yorkville shortly before 11:00 p.m. They found the truck was on its side, blocking the right lane.Officials say a large amount of personal possessions had been thrown from the truck during the accident and covered all three lanes of traffic.Northbound I-94 was temporarily shut down at State Highway 20, due to the accident and resulting debris.

RacineTMZ: Family of six pulled from boat suffering engine trouble in Racine Harbor

RACINE -- Officials with the "RacineTMZ" Facebook page on Saturday afternoon, July 9th posted photos of a rescue that took place Saturday in the Racine Harbor.According to the RacineTMZ officials, a family of six was on board the boat -- three adults and three children.The boat apparently suffered engine trouble, and waves pushed it onto the rocks along Pershing Drive.Everyone on the boat was rescued, thanks to officials with the Racine Fire Department, Racine Police Department, Racine County Sheriff's Office and several citizens.As the photos below show, the boat would eventually sink below the water.It remained tied to a boulder along Pershing Drive after this rescue.It is not believed anyone was hurt in this incident.PHOTO GALLERY

Motorcyclist from Cudahy killed in Burlington when driver failed to yield the right of way

BURLINGTON -- Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say a 56-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on State Highway 83 at Pine Street Friday, July 8th.The crash happened shortly before 10:30 a.m.Sheriff's officials say witnesses to the crash, which included an off-duty nurse and paramedic were performing CPR on the motorcycle operator -- but those efforts were unsuccessful due to his injuries.The crash involved the motorcycle and a tractor trailer.An initial investigation has revealed the operator of the commercial motor vehicle was driving westbound on the bypass and was attempting to turn South onto Pine Street.The operator of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old Cudahy man, was driving eastbound on the bypass when he collided with the truck.At the time of the crash, the traffic signals were working properly and it appears the operator of the truck failed to yield to the right of way of the motorcycle operator.The investigation is ongoing.

Captured: Racine Co. inmate who walked away from work release job site back in custody

RACINE COUNTY -- Officials with the Department of Corrections say 60-year-old Timothy Worth, a minimum security inmate at Sturtevant Transitional Facility who walked away from a work release job site Monday, July 4th is now back in custody.Officials on Monday released Worth's photo in an effort to locate him.Again -- he is now back in custody.

130 citations issued for seat belt violations in Racine Co. during "Click It or Ticket" campaign

RACINE COUNTY -- Results are in out of Racine County after the "Click It or Ticket" crackdown -- which ran from May 23rd through June 5th.According to Racine County Sheriff's officials, during this time period, there were 130 citations issued to adults for failure to fasten a seat belt and seven citations for children not wearing seat belts.In addition to the seat belt violations were:

Racine County: Car crash involving five motorcycles injures six people

RACINE COUNTY -- Six people in total were injured following a collision that involved a car and five motorcycles on State Highway 83 at County L in Racine County on Saturday morning, June 4th.The accident occurred around 10:00 a.m.Racine County officials say five motorcycles and a car were traveling southbound, and a group of 10 additional motorcycles were traveling northbound.One of the southbound motorcycles was slowing down to avoid hitting a car, when it collided with another motorcycle behind it -- which then struck a third motorcycle in the group of riders headed northbound.Authorities say one person from the crash was transported by Flight for Life.

Public meeting with experts set for June 7th amid severe bluff erosion in Racine, Kenosha counties

RACINE/KENOSHA COUNTIES -- Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave on Thursday, June 2nd announced that a meeting will take place involving state and federal officials on Tuesday, June 7th amid severe erosion along Lake Michigan in both Racine and Kenosha counties -- affecting homeowners in Caledonia, Mount Pleasant, Racine and Kenosha.This "Technical Assistance Community Meeting" will take place at the Village of Mount Pleasant Auditorium at 8811 Campus Drive in Mount Pleasant from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on June 7th.Affected property owners and local officials are invited to attend."It's taking your land, is what it's doing, you know?

50 facing charges since fall after Racine Co. drug unit, DEA teamed up to stop sale of prescription drugs

RACINE COUNTY -- Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say 50 suspects have been identified and taken into custody since the fall of 2015 -- when the "Metro Drug Unit" and the Milwaukee DEA teamed up for a large scale operation focused on combating rampant prescription painkiller diversion, misuse and addiction in Racine County.Sheriff's officials say this investigation has focused on street level opiate dealers in Racine who are illegally selling prescription drugs.The investigation has revealed the most common drugs being sold on the street are Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Adderall and Xanax.According to a news release issued by Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling, investigators utilized a "Prescription Drug Monitoring Program" to identify prescribers -- and doctors were then contacted and informed of their patient's illegal activity.

BURLINGTON -- More than 48 hours after a house exploded in Burlington in Racine County, crews on Monday, May 16th were still searching for clues, and also working to determine whether there was a third person inside the home when it caught fire and exploded on Saturday, May 14th.Investigators have already recovered the bodies of two people at the scene on Ketterhagen Road.
