Police: 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man struck by vehicle, killed on State Highway 32

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police say a 20-year-old man from Mount Pleasant was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash that happened on State Highway 32, north of Chicory Road Sunday morning, October 9th.Police say the man was struck by a vehicle around 4:30 a.m.The man was found in the northbound lanes of State Highway 32 with severe trauma to his head and body from impact with the northbound vehicle -- which remained at the scene.Police say the driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt.The 20-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.A preliminary investigation has revealed the vehicle was headed northbound on State Highway 32 in the right lane of the divided four-lane highway -- approximately three-tenths of a mile north of Chicory Road.Police say the area does not have street lighting, and is a darkened area of the roadway.The pedestrian was in the right traffic lane when he was struck by the vehicle.Police say the vehicle was being driven by a 27-year-old woman from Racine, who is cooperating with this investigation.The crash remains under investigation.

Mount Pleasant police seek suspect after armed robbery at Community State Bank

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are seeking a suspect after an armed robbery at the Community State Bank Tuesday morning, August 30th.It happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the bank located on Washington Avenue near 90th Street in Mount Pleasant.Police say the suspect is a black man with a thin build.

Teenage boy accused in car dealership theft released from hospital

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police say the 13-year-old boy who was arrested on Monday, July 4th in connection with a burglary at a car dealership has been released from the hospital.The boy suffered non-life threatening injuries after crashing a stolen gray Ford Transit van on the night of the burglary to the Porcaro Ford car dealership in Mount Pleasant.Since being released from the hospital on Tuesday, July 5th, the boy was taken to a secure juvenile detention facility in Milwaukee.

Mount Pleasant man accused of defrauding "Point One Recruiting," where he worked

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police say a 39-year-old man was arrested and charges have been submitted to the Racine County District Attorney's Office after the man allegedly defrauded a recruiting company.On February 11th, police received a complaint of theft by an employee of "Point One Recruiting" on Corporate Drive in Mount Pleasant.A subsequent investigation revealed the man was employed by the company as a recruiter -- responsible for the recruitment and placement of employees to companies that had retained Point One.The suspect, on several occasions, had failed to report unsuccessful placements to the management staff at Point One.The suspect then refunded the fee paid by the customer but kept the commission he received as though it was a successful placement.Police say the man on at least six occasions, falsified documents to support that he had successfully placed employees with companies, in order to claim his commission.These commissions totaled in excess of $40,000.The suspect was arrested, and charges of theft from a business setting (greater than $10,000) have been submitted to the district attorney's office.

Mount Pleasant police seek suspect after "SF Petroleum" robbed at gunpoint

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are seeking a suspect responsible for a robbery at SF Petroleum, near the intersection of 24th Street and Racine Street on Sunday, march 20th.It happened around 9:00 a.m.Police say the suspect entered the store and displayed a handgun.

Streets closed in Mount Pleasant after coal train experiences problems with engine

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police said on Thursday evening, March 3rd a Union Pacific coal train was stopped on the tracks in the area of Airline Road and Gittings Road/Airline Road and Spring Street in Mount Pleasant after experiencing a mechanical failure with its engine.A maintenance crew from Union Pacific was working on fixing the engine.The call for this incident came in around 6:30 p.m.No one was hurt.Spring Street (Highway T), Old Spring Street, and Gittings Road in Mount Pleasant were closed in between 90th Street (western boundary) and Airline Road (eastern boundary).Crews were working on getting an engine out of Milwaukee to come, hook up to the train, and at least move it out of the way of automobile traffic.Detours around the area where the train is are Highway 20 (south) and Highway K (north).
