WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A Brookfield man, apparently lost on his way home was arrested after officials found drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said just after midnight on Thursday, February 23rd, the man was arrested on charges of possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.The incident occurred on US 45 near West Washington Street.

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office are seeking a hit-and-run driver, and they have a few clues!The hit-and-run crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23rd on Badger Road near Kettle View Drive in the Town of Kewaskum.Sheriff's officials said the suspect vehicle was westbound on Badger Road when, according to a witness, the operator rapidly accelerated away from a stop sign and lost control of the vehicle, skidded off the roadway and struck a power pole.Officials said it was fortunate there was not an oncoming vehicle.The operator then fled the scene -- headed west on Badger Road.

62-year-old convicted sex offender set to be released; he'll live on County Highway NN in Jackson

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office are notifying neighbors of the release of a registered sex offender -- set for Tuesday, January 24th.62-year-old Steven Arthur Wienke will live in a home at 1725 County Highway NN in the Township of Jackson in Washington County.Sheriff's officials said Wienke was convicted of one count of first degree sexual assault of a child, one count of second degree sexual assault of a child, and one count of causing harm to a child.Wienke will be on community supervision (parole and probation) until 2024 and he will be monitored closely by WI-DOC Division of Community Corrections agents.

Germantown police chief praises officers for stopping vehicle driven by 77-year-old who suffered medical condition

GERMANTOWN -- Germantown's police chief is praising the actions of officers who worked to stop a vehicle driven by a 77-year-old man who suffered some sort of medical condition.It happened on Wednesday, January 11th shortly before 4:30 p.m.Germantown police said the Germantown Police Communications Center received multiple calls regarding a possible impaired driver westbound on Mequon Road in the vicinity of Wausaukee Road.Complainants reported that a vehicle was weaving in its lane of travel, driving into oncoming traffic, disregarding stoplight(s) and going into the ditch.Two Germantown squads located the suspect vehicle westbound on Mequon Road in the vicinity of Country Aire Drive.

Update: Washington County recovers additional $39K in 2016 email scam

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, January 5th provided an update on the June 23, 2016 wire fraud investigation involving county funds.The investigation centers around the County Treasurer making two wire transfers of county funds in the amounts of $48,560 and $39,200, into accounts at two different financial institutions.The investigation revealed the County Treasurer made the transfers based on a series of emails she believed to have originated from the County Administrator.
