Deputies find corn stalks hanging from school bus; driver cited for OWI, accused of driving off road

TOWN OF WATERFORD -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a school bus driver is facing several citations, including OWI first offense following an incident on Tuesday afternoon, October 6th.It happened around 2:15 p.m. in the Town of Waterford.At that time, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call indicating a school bus drove off the roadway into a cornfield and then came back out onto the road and continued driving on Buena Park Road.The Racine County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched and deputies learned that the bus was owned by S & J Bus Services Inc.

Busted: 31-year-old man now in custody in connection with armed robberies at Racine Co. libraries

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say an arrest has been made in connection with August armed robberies at two libraries.Shortly before noon on August 6th, Sheriff's officials were dispatched to an armed robbery that occurred at the Village of Rochester Library.Approximately 15 minutes after the initial call, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted robbery at the Village of Waterford Library.Investigators and responding deputies immediately determined that the Waterford and Rochester incidents were related and launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.Now, we've learned a 31-year-old man has been taken into custody for these crimes.On Wednesday, September 30th, a search warrant was executed at the man's home in Burlington, and he was taken in to custody.He is currently being held on several felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incidents mentioned above.He is also currently being held on a probation hold from the Wisconsin DOC.

Two hurt following single-vehicle crash in Town of Yorkville, alcohol appears to be factor

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call of an accident that occurred at the intersection of STH 11 and 67th Drive in the Town of Yorkville in Racine County Wednesday night, September 23rd.Racine County Deputies responded and found that this was a single-car accident and there were two occupants in the car.

Man arrested after approaching woman with rope, asking her to place hands behind her back

VILLAGE OF ROCHESTER -- A 20-year-old Waterford man was taken into custody Saturday, September 12th after he allegedly approached a woman with a rope and instructed her to put her hands behind her back.The incident occurred  at Case Eagle Park in the Village of Rochester.According to officials, at approximately 11:23 a.m. on Saturday, September 12th Racine County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene.

Racine Co. Sheriff’s Office: 21-year-old man arrested on heroin charges

RACINE -- Agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit arrested a local heroin dealer on three counts of delivering heroin on September 4th.Metro Drug Unit Agents and RASO investigators then served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 1700 block of Grand avenue, Racine, Wisconsin.

Racine County Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol called out to Lake Michigan for vessel taking on water

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol was called out to Lake Michigan Saturday, September 5th for a 41-foot vessel that was taking on water.It happened around 6:00 p.m.Racine County Sheriff's officials say the Water Patrol received a distress call over the marine band radio for a 41-foot vessel on Lake Michigan that was taking on water.The caller stated he was north of the Wind Point Lighthouse, approximately four miles off shore, and taking on water from an unknown location faster than it could be pumped out.The operator advised he was headed to shore to beach the boat.The Sheriff's Office's Water Patrol responded to the scene and found the vessel beached.
