Annual “Booze and Belts” campaign to begin Dec. 13th

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- To make streets and highways safer during the upcoming holiday season, law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin will mobilize for the annual “Booze and Belts” campaign from Friday, December 13, to Saturday, December 21.“Alcohol-related crashes killed 223 people in Wisconsin and injured nearly 3,000 last year.

Couple narrowly avoided pileup on Hwy. 41/45 thanks to Good Samaritan

GERMANTOWN (WITI) -- A day after a huge pileup shut down Highway 41/45, a woman who was in the middle of it is thanking a stranger for helping to keep her and her husband safe.The man, who has not been identified, was trying to warn other drivers of the danger ahead.

One dead, three hurt in Sunday's wreck on I-94 near Mount Pleasant

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- We're getting a better idea of just how chaotic it was on the roads on Sunday, December 8th. 60 crashes were reported in Racine County -- and one person was killed in a pileup on I-94.A multiple-vehicle collision on I-94 near Mount Pleasant was reported around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.According to witness statements, two semis were stopped in the southbound lanes due to a crash that occurred in front of their location.

One dead, at least 50 hurt in wreck on I-94 at Cty. K in Racine Co.

RACINE CO. (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned one person was killed in Racine County on Sunday, December 8th in a weather-related traffic incident, and at least 50 others suffered injuries.As of 3:30 p.m., Racine County Sheriff's officials reported approximately 60 crashes in Racine County Sunday -- with about half of those being on I-94.

U.S. 41/45 SB reopens after massive multi-vehicle wreck Sunday

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- The scene at U.S. 41/45 near Lannon Road was cleared on Sunday, December 8th just before 5:00 p.m. This, after a massive multiple-vehicle wreck shut down the SB lanes of the freeway for much of Sunday afternoon.There were some reports Sunday that as many as 60 vehicles were involved in this wreck.

West Allis woman killed in rollover crash on I-43 at Hwy. 100

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a 39-year-old West Allis woman was killed in a rollover crash on I-43 near Highway 100 on Sunday, December 8th.The crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. Sunday.Sheriff's officials say the driver of the vehicle, Tammy Gawlitta, was ejected from the passenger side window and was trapped under the vehicle in a ditch.Sheriff's officials say two Good Samaritans lifted the vehicle off its side and pushed it upright.

Incident at U.S. 41/45 SB at Pilgrim Road cleared, lanes reopened

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned U.S. 41/45 SB has been reopened at Pilgrim Road as of 9:00 p.m.The roadway had been shut down for a significant period of time, with all SB lanes blocked.Drivers were being forced to exit SB 41/45 at Lannon Road and head west to 175, south to County Line Road, and east to 41/45.The closure was due to multiple traffic incidents involving multiple vehicles."It's crazy, but it is winter in Wisconsin.
