2 Greenfield police officers injured after squad struck by vehicle

GREENFIELD -- Two officers with the Greenfield Police Department were hurt after the squad they were traveling in was hit by another vehicle on Saturday, December 10th.At the time of the crash, police say the two male officers were on patrol headed westbound on Layton Avenue, when the driver of the other vehicle, traveling eastbound on Layton, crossed over the median and hit the squad.Both officers were transported to a hospital by ambulance, where they were treated and released for their injuries.The driver of the striking vehicle, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man, was also transported to a hospital where he was treated and released.PHOTO GALLERY Officials one of the officers hurt is a 22-year veteran of the department and the other officer has seven years of experience.The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the Greenfield Police Department with the investigation into the cause of this crash.

22-year-old Franklin man dies after vehicle fell on him as he was changing tire in Greenfield

GREENFIELD -- Greenfield police say a 22-year-old Franklin man was killed when he became pinned under a vehicle near 55th and Forest Home Tuesday, August 2nd.It happened just after noon.Police say citizens assisted officers in lifting the vehicle off the man, and officers and paramedics then began life-saving measures.Unfortunately though, the 22-year-old Franklin man was pronounced dead at the scene.A preliminary investigation has revealed the man was in the process of changing a tire on a vehicle, when the tire jack apparently malfunctioned -- which then caused the vehicle to fall down on top of the man.The man hasn't been identified due to the fact that all of the appropriate notifications have not been made.
