WASHINGTON (WITI) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office received a report of a barn fire at 3745 Beaver Dam Road in the Town of Barton early Monday morning, June 30th.When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a large wood barn completely ablaze, with the fire rapidly intensifying and spreading to two adjacent outbuildings.The West Bend Fire Department requested assistance from the Fillmore, Jackson, Slinger, Kewaskum, Allenton, and Newburg Fire Departments to aid at the scene.

BUSTED: Three arrested for involvement in heroin deliveries

WEST BEND (WITI) -- Three suspects were arrested during a traffic stop on US 45 near West Bend on Thursday, May 29th for their involvement in heroin deliveries.According to officials, a Washington County Sheriff's Deputy arrested a 20-year-old man and a 41-year-old man from the Kewaskum area and a 24-year-old woman from the City of West Bend.Authorities say the suspects had been the subject of an on-going investigation by the Washington County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Group (Drug Unit).The investigation resulted in sales of heroin to an undercover police officer in the City of West Bend, the Village of Jackson, and the Village of Kewaskum.

BUSTED: Accused of burglarizing 100 storage units, two now in custody

WASHINGTON CO. (WITI) -- Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with around 100 storage unit burglaries that took place in Washington County in the first quarter of 2014.The burglaries were taking place at multiple storage facilities in the Towns of Barton, Jackson, Kewaskum, Polk and Trenton.During the course of the investigation, Washington County authorities identified a 54-year-old man and his 29-year-old nephew as being the prime suspects in these cases.

GERMANTOWN (WITI) -- Germantown police say a box that fell off a truck on U.S. 41/45 SB north of County Line Road on Wednesday evening, May 7th led to a crash.It happened around 5:15 p.m.Police say two vehicles were involved.Police say their preliminary investigation indicates a box fell from a truck headed southbound, and landed in the right lane of traffic.A vehicle heading southbound drove over the box, and it became lodged under the vehicle.The driver lost the ability to steer -- and went off the road left into the center median.The driver was the only occupant of the car, and wasn't injured.Police say the vehicle struck another vehicle before coming to rest in the median.The second vehicle rolled multiple times and came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway.A 35-year-old woman was the only occupant of this vehicle.She was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries -- but is expected to survive.

Woman held without bail on six charges in January fatal crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- Washington County Sheriff's officials say they have taken a 28-year-old West Bend woman into custody in connection with a fatal crash that occurred back in January.The crash occurred on January 23rd near the intersection of County Trunk A and County Trunk M in the Town of Farmington.A 70-year-old Cedar Grove man was killed after he became pinned between his truck and trailer after it was rear-ended by the 28-year-old woman.That woman is being held without bail on the following charges: homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, homicide while operating with a detectable amount of restricted controlled substance, knowingly operating while suspended and causing death to another person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Culver's in Jackson reopens after shooting incident Sunday

JACKSON (WITI) -- The Culver's restaurant in Jackson reopened on Monday, October 7th after an attempted robbery and shooting incident there on Sunday.Officials also released additional details on the incident on Monday.Officials say just before 8:30 on Sunday, the manager and an employee were inside the Culver's restaurant preparing for the day when they heard a noise outside the rear door.When a manager opened the door, he was confronted by a man wearing a mask, and armed with a shotgun.The manager then grabbed the shotgun and attempted to disarm the man.During the struggle, the suspect lost control of the shotgun, and produced a knife, and proceeded to stab the manager in the head, according to officials.The suspect and manager continued to fight for control of the shotgun and knife until police arrived.At that time, officials say the suspect gained control of the shotgun and pointed it at officers.Three law enforcement officials fired shots at the suspect.The suspect was taken to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life and is in critical condition.The manager was taken to St.

(WITI) -- Two years after the Washington County Sheriff's Office brought a robot onto their team, they are finally able to use it in the field.Washington County Sheriff Dale Schmidt knew what he was looking for back in 2011, when he started looking for a robotic addition to his team."I could count back in history at least 15 times we could have used this, but what we did use is a lot of manpower which cost a lot of money,” said Washington County Sheriff Dale Schmidt. “It's just a need I perceived over time and it seems to be working out now."The official name for the new robot is a mini caliber.
