Police, MPD's Bomb Squad investigate suspicious object found in New Berlin's Lions Park

NEW BERLIN -- New Berlin police were called to Lions Park shortly before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28th to investigate a report of a suspicious object found in the park's north parking lot.Officers arrived and called in the Milwaukee Police Department's Bomb Squad.The object was checked out and it was determined that the object wasn't dangerous.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this developing story.

Latest: Three taken into custody after report of armed home invasion in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN -- Three people were taken into custody on Thursday, July 23rd in connection with an incident that began with a report of an armed home invasion in New Berlin around noon.New Berlin police say officers responded to a subdivision near Sunnyslope Road and Beloit Road -- but the suspects and suspect vehicle were gone.Officers were alerted as to a description of the suspect vehicle -- and it was spotted and then stopped near S. 124th Street and Beloit Road.Three people were arrested for prowling.We're told they are not New Berlin residents.Police say the suspects did not have any weapons on them.

New Berlin police officer taken to the hospital after squad SUV struck by another vehicle

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police say an officer had to be taken to the hospital after that officer's squad SUV was struck by another vehicle on Thursday afternoon, March 19th.It happened around 12:30 p.m. near College Avenue and Sunnyslope Road.The officer was taken to the hospital, but it is believed that officer suffered only minor injuries.The other driver involved in this incident was not hurt.The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.

Good work in the field: New Berlin officer to receive an award for his actions following pursuit & crash

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- A New Berlin police officer will be honored for his actions following a pursuit that ended in a crash back in December 2014.The pursuit occurred on December 29th, and ended in a crash on Greenfield Avenue at Elm Grove Road.New Berlin Police Officer Josh Ledzian attempted to stop the van for reckless driving, but the driver decided to flee instead.

New Berlin police want to speak with man following "suspicious incident" involving young girl

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police say they're looking to talk with a man following a "suspicious incident" that occurred on Tuesday, December 2nd shortly after 8:00 a.m.Police say they took a report of an attempted child abduction in the area of Salentine Drive and Calhoun Road in the city of New Berlin.During an investigation, police learned a suspicious man driving a silver and blue Honda Accord (last seen traveling eastbound on Salentine Drive from Calhoun Road) waved and slowed down, coming to a stop as he approached a six-year-old girl who was waiting for the school bus at the end of her driveway.Police say the girl initially told her mother the man asked her to "come here," but later told police the man didn't speak to her at all.The man drove away as the girl's mother exited the home, and as the school bus was approaching.Police say the man never opened his car door or exited his car.He's described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s with dark hair.

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police are warning drivers of a water main break that occurred Tuesday, October 7th in the area of Cleveland Avenue -- just east of Moorland Road.Police say both directions of travel remain open, but drivers may experience delays and congestion -- especially around rush hour.Police say crews will be working throughout the day in the area.

New Berlin police need your help identifying robbery suspects

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police are seeking the public's help in identifying two male suspects responsible for the armed robbery of the BP Gas Station on 124th Street and Beloit Road.It happened on March 28th just before 8:00 p.m.Police say the men entered the gas station and displayed a handgun -- threatening to kill the clerk.Police say the men fled the scene in a black, two-door Honda Civic with a rear spoiler (possibly a 200-2005 model) -- with no registration plates.Take a look at these surveillance photos.
