Racine police investigate shooting near 10th & Grand

RACINE -- Racine police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Monday night, July 11th.According to police,  officers were called out to the area near 10th Street and Grand Avenue just before 11:30 p.m.Upon arrival, officers were advised that a 19-year-old victim had already been transported to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center -- possibly by a family member.

RacineTMZ: Family of six pulled from boat suffering engine trouble in Racine Harbor

RACINE -- Officials with the "RacineTMZ" Facebook page on Saturday afternoon, July 9th posted photos of a rescue that took place Saturday in the Racine Harbor.According to the RacineTMZ officials, a family of six was on board the boat -- three adults and three children.The boat apparently suffered engine trouble, and waves pushed it onto the rocks along Pershing Drive.Everyone on the boat was rescued, thanks to officials with the Racine Fire Department, Racine Police Department, Racine County Sheriff's Office and several citizens.As the photos below show, the boat would eventually sink below the water.It remained tied to a boulder along Pershing Drive after this rescue.It is not believed anyone was hurt in this incident.PHOTO GALLERY

Racine police: 43-year-old man arrested, accused of threatening officers on social media

RACINE -- Racine police say a 43-year-old man was arrested Friday, July 8th -- for allegedly threatening law enforcement officials.Police say on Friday, they became aware of threats against officers and their families posted to social media.Investigators learned that the suspect posting the threats may live in the city of Racine.The Racine Police Department began receiving tips from concerned citizens and other law enforcement agencies across the country regarding these threats.One of the threats included the following:

Racine police: 29-year-old woman dies after crash involving utility pole

RACINE -- Racine police say a 29-year-old woman involved in a crash early on Saturday morning, June 25th near Marquette Street and West Street died from her injuries on Monday, June 27th.The crash happened just after 1:00 a.m.Upon arrival at the scene, police found a vehicle that struck a utility pole, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and trapping occupants.All of the occupants of the vehicle were taken from Wheaton Franciscan Emergency to Froedert in Milwaukee with serious injuries.On Monday, the 29-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle died.Racine police traffic investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this incident.

Family dog bites, seriously hurts one-year-old boy in Racine

RACINE — Racine police say a family dog has bitten and seriously injured a one-year-old boy.The child was flown Thursday night to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa after being bitten in the head.Racine police and paramedics were called to the home at 7 p.m. The Journal Times reports the child's grandfather told first responders the family's six-year-old American bulldog boxer bit the boy in the face and head while the child was playing on the floor.The grandfather had to pry the dog off the boy's head.

Timothy Holloway charged after shots fired incident in Racine neighborhood

RACINE -- 34-year-old Timothy Holloway of Racine is now charged in connection with a shots fired/family dispute incident that happened in Racine on Monday night, May 16th.Holloway faces two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.Racine police say the incident happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Clairmont Street near Biscayne Avenue.

RACINE -- Racine police say two suspects have been taken into custody for questioning about their alleged role in an attempted robbery on Virginia Street on Monday evening, May 16th.Officials say around 9:45 p.m., the 23-year-old victim had apparently been approached by two suspects at a home.

Police: 19-year-old man shot, seriously injured near 19th & Taylor in Racine

RACINE -- Racine police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night, May 8th near 19th and Taylor.According to authorities, police were called out to the scene around 9:40 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds, and in serious condition.

Three arrested in connection to "black money scam" at Racine furniture store

RACINE -- The Racine Police Department says three suspects have been charged with uttering and theft by fraud after executing a "black money scam" at a furniture store in Racine.The scam took place Friday, April 29th.According to Racine police, a concerned citizen notified the department that a possible scam was going to occur at the Furniture Warehouse located at 1610 Washington Avenue.Police say they responded to the area and waited for the suspects to arrive and initiate their scam.Upon the suspects arrival, police say three suspects proceeded to execute what is commonly known as a "black money scam" -- fraud involving fake currency.Authorities detained three individuals and confirmed they were in fact attempting to execute the scam.Officers arrested a 26-year-old, a 32-year-old and a 21-year-old suspect -- they have all been charged with uttering and theft by fraud.Racine police say collaborative effort by citizens, investigators and officers, led to the quick arrest of the individuals.Racine police are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this crime or other frauds.

Racine police make arrest after man shot near 6th and Jones Street

RACINE -- Racine police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that happened on Sunday, April 24th near 6th and Jones Street.Police have taken into custody a 33-year-old man (who turns 34 on Tuesday, April 26th).The victim has been identified as Darnell Barker.The shooting happened around 11:00 a.m.Upon officers' arrival at the scene, they located 47-year-old Barker suffering from a single gunshot wound.A preliminary investigation has indicated that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim one time.The suspect has not yet been criminally charged.
