Racine police: "Person of interest" in custody for questioning after one shot near 6th & Jones

RACINE -- Racine police say one person was hurt in a shooting that happened near 6th Street and Jones Street on Sunday, April 24th.It happened around 11:00 a.m.Police say a 47-year-old victim was located by officers -- suffering from a single gunshot wound.A preliminary investigation has revealed the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim once.Officials with the Racine Police Department conducted a neighborhood canvass and a person of interest was taken into custody for questioning.Racine police investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this crime.

RACINE -- Racine police say three people have been arrested and are expected to be charged in connection with the death of 34-year-old Thomas Borglin.Officials say the suspects are men, ages 27, 28 and 33.Police say their investigation centered on a residence on Grove Ave.

RACINE -- Racine police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man.The man was found dead in a home near 15th Street and Grove Avenue on Monday evening, April 11th.Police were called out to the home around 6:15.Police say due to the unknown circumstances surrounding this death, "Major Crimes" was activated and responded to the scene.The investigation is ongoing.Racine police investigators are interested in any information anyone may have regarding this crime.

20-year-old suspect taken into custody after triple shooting at Bray Center in Racine

 RACINE -- Racine police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a triple shooting that occurred at the Bray Center in Racine on March 11th.Police arrested the 20-year-old suspect early on Wednesday morning, March 30th after "no knock" search warrants were executed at an address on Park Avenue and an address on Grand Avenue.The suspect was located at the Park Avenue address and taken into custody -- arrested for three counts of attempted first degree intentional homicide and bail jumping.Police said one of the three people shot during this incident was a 16-year-old girl.Several people are shot after a large fight breaks out during a private event at the George Bray Community Center late Friday, March 11th.

Owner surrenders 18 dogs from alleged hoarding situation in Racine: "We had way too many"

RACINE -- Officials with the Wisconsin Humane Society say 18 dogs were surrendered on Monday, March 14th when Humane Society officials and Racine police handled an alleged hoarding situation at a home near Mayfair Drive and Monterey Drive.Humane Society officials say the dogs' owners were cooperative and surrendered the 18 dogs -- 17 chihuahuas and a beagle.The dogs were set to be examined by a veterinarian on Monday, and some will be transferred to the Wisconsin Humane Society's Ozaukee campus due to space limitations in Racine.The owner of the animals has admitted he had too many, and officials said the animals were packed into tiny crates filled with urine and feces.

RACINE -- Racine police are seeking the suspect(s) responsible for a shooting in which a 19-year-old man was injured.It happened on Sunday, March 13th around 5:15 p.m.Police say they were called out to the area near 12th and Franklin for a report of shots fired.The victim later arrived at the emergency room, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

RACINE -- Racine police are seeking a suspect in connection with an attempted homicide that happened on Monday night, February 22nd.Police say around 11:45 p.m., officers were called out to the area near 18th and Franklin Street for shots fired.Arriving officers found that a home had been struck multiple times by gunfire.

Upset parent on campus: Students at Knapp Elem. in Racine asked to stay in their classrooms

RACINE -- Racine police say students at Knapp Elementary School were asked to stay in their classrooms for a brief period of time on Tuesday afternoon, February 23rd due to an incident involving a parent at the school who was upset.Police say the parent was raising their voice and expressing concerns to staff at Knapp Elementary following a fight between two students around 2:15 p.m. A Racine Unified School District spokeswoman says this was a case involving a parent who went directly to her child's classroom, instead of signing in at the school.No threat was made -- and there was never any threat to students' safety.It's unclear whether an official "lockdown" occurred at the school, but we do know students were asked to stay in their classrooms for a brief period of time.When the parent calmed down, she was taken to the principal's office, where she then signed in and spoke with the principal.The entire ordeal lasted only about five minutes, we're told.  

Three 17-year-olds arrested following attempted robbery in Racine

RACINE -- Three 17-year-olds were arrested in connection to two attempted burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 17th in Racine.According to the Racine Police Department, officers responded to an attempted burglary call at the Jo Jo's Quick Market located on 16th Street in Racine.
