More than two inches of rain has led to street flooding in Appleton, Green Bay

APPLETON — Heavy rains have caused street flooding in Appleton.City Engineer Ross Buetow tells Post-Crescent Media (http://post.cr/1BiMfSM ) that drivers should stay off the roads until conditions improve.Appleton's Department of Public Works and local law enforcement agencies have been overwhelmed with callers reporting flooded streets.Flooded roads are reported in the City of Appleton, Grand Chute and other cities in Outagamie County.

Man creates disturbance at polling place in Green Bay

GREEN BAY(AP) — Police refrained from arresting a man who caused a disturbance at a polling place in Green Bay.Brown County Clerk Sandy Juno says the man was serving as a poll worker at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay Tuesday when he began "creating a ruckus" and was telling people how to run the polls.Police tried to convince the man to go to a local crisis center for a mental health evaluation, but did not take him into custody.Press-Gazette Media says local election officials contacted the state Department of Justice which determined the integrity of the election at that polling place was not affected.Officials say the man also created a disturbance at the city clerk's office and became upset when he was turned away after trying to vote at the Ashwaubenon village hall.

Eek! Huge spiders are creeping up in Wisconsin

(AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is receiving more sighting reports of the large fishing spider.Linda Williams of the DNR tells Press-Gazette Media that while two or three fishing spider sightings annually are typical in the region, she has received 10 reports this year and has personally seen four spiders herself.They are found around rivers, streams or lakes, but frequently drift elsewhere to find food or lay eggs.The spider can reach three inches in size but isn't harmful to humans.

Road "trip:" Man tells police he took LSD before running naked along I-43 in Green Bay

GREEN BAY (WITI) – Green Bay Police say a man found running naked along Interstate 43 is being held on a psychiatric hold.Police say reports started coming in at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 23rd of a man running in the shoulder and ditch of the southbound lanes, north of Mason St., running into traffic.Police say at least one car hit him, but he was not injured.Police used a stun gun on the 22-year-old Menasha man in order to arrest him.
