Gas station canopy collapses in Cascade in Sheboygan County during winter storm

CASCADE -- Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials on Monday, December 28th were called out to a gas station after that gas station's canopy collapsed -- the second canopy collapse to occur in southeastern Wisconsin on Monday.It happened at Marshall's Gas & Goods on Madison Avenue near County Road NN in Cascade.We're told a deputy in the area noticed that the canopy had fallen over, but saw somebody from the business dealing with the issue.No one was hurt.There was no damage at the gas station -- other than to the canopy.It is believed that either wind or snow toppled the canopy.

Driving in snow, sleet, freezing rain is tricky! WisDOT PSA likens it to skating on ice

MILWAUKEE -- It's certainly tough out there on the roads on Monday, December 28th as snow fell, and that snow was eventually expected to turn into a wintry mix -- with sleet and freezing rain possible.A Winter Storm Warning took effect Monday morning for all of southeastern Wisconsin.That warning remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.For some, Monday was the first time this year that they were forced to drive amid a wintry mess.The PSA you'll see below from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation illustrates the importance of taking it slow when roads are slick.The PSA, which was released back in 2011, shows "drivers" on skates on the ice -- to illustrate what can happen on slick roads when people are distracted, or driving too quickly.It seems in Wisconsin we all have to re-learn how to drive each winter amid the snow, the ice, and the freezing rain.Take it slow out there folks!The PSA is part of the Wisconsin DOT's "Zero in Wisconsin" campaign -- an effort to aim for zero deaths on Wisconsin's roads.WATCH:

It may be spring, but parts of Wisconsin hit hard by snow

LA CROSSE (AP) — Spring came crashing down on winter weary residents in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa with more than a foot of new snow in some areas.Schools in southwestern Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota canceled classes Monday, March 23rd as snowplows hit the highways and streets and the locals fired up their snow blowers or brought out their shovels for another round of winter like weather.The National Weather Service measured 15 inches of snow in the Grant County, Wisconsin community of Fennimore and 13 inches in neighboring Crawford County.
